Role Context
The Consultant - Pediatrics will serve as a trusted point of care for infants, children, and adolescents, providing routine check-ups, diagnosis, preventive care, vaccinations, treatment planning, and family education. The role requires strong clinical judgment, empathy, accurate assessment of growth and development, and the ability to coordinate specialist care when required. Working in Dubai’s healthcare sector, the consultant will help improve child health outcomes through early diagnosis, safe treatment, proactive wellness guidance, and culturally sensitive Arabic communication with patients and families.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct routine pediatric check-ups to assess growth, development, general health, and age-appropriate milestones.
* Evaluate children and adolescents to diagnose illnesses, injuries, infections, developmental concerns, and other pediatric health conditions.
* Prescribe and interpret diagnostic tests to identify underlying medical issues and guide accurate treatment decisions.
* Provide newborn care, infant care, child health support, adolescent consultations, immunizations, and preventive health advice.
* Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination, and other specialized medical care to prevent or treat illness.
* Manage common pediatric emergencies and provide timely stabilization, referral, or escalation when needed.
* Direct and coordinate pediatric patient care with nurses, specialists, diagnostic teams, and allied healthcare professionals.
* Arrange specialist consultations when required and ensure continuity of care for complex or ongoing pediatric cases.
* Communicate clearly with parents and caregivers about diagnosis, treatment plans, medication use, risk factors, recovery expectations, and proactive health management.
* Maintain accurate patient records, consultation notes, vaccination details, diagnostic results, treatment plans, and follow-up documentation.
* Support a child-friendly and family-centered care environment that promotes trust, comfort, and safe clinical outcomes.
* Contribute to continuous learning, clinical quality, patient safety, and professional standards within the pediatric service.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree such as MBBS, MD, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
* Board certification in Pediatrics or an equivalent recognized consultant-level pediatric qualification.
* Minimum 5 years of post-specialty experience in pediatrics.
* Fluency in Arabic is mandatory for effective communication with patients and families.
* Excellent knowledge of newborn care, infant care, child health, adolescent medicine, immunization, preventive pediatrics, and developmental assessment.
* Ability to handle pediatric emergency situations with calm clinical judgment and appropriate escalation.
* Strong experience in routine pediatric consultations, diagnosis, treatment planning, vaccination, and family counselling.
* Excellent communication skills with empathy toward children, parents, and caregivers.
* Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and multinational healthcare environment.
