Role Context
The Consultant Physician - Pediatric Nephrology will provide advanced care for children with congenital, acute, chronic, and complex kidney conditions. The position supports early diagnosis, long-term renal health, safe dialysis management, transplant readiness, and improved family confidence through specialist assessment, evidence-based treatment planning, multidisciplinary collaboration, and clear communication with patients and caregivers.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and manage pediatric renal conditions, including congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract, nephrotic syndrome, nephritic syndrome, acute kidney disease, chronic kidney disease, hypertension, electrolyte imbalance, and tubular disorders
* Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient history, renal function, diagnostic findings, disease progression, and long-term care needs
* Oversee pediatric dialysis programs, including peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis, ensuring safe monitoring and effective care coordination
* Collaborate with pediatric urologists, endocrinologists, intensivists, nurses, dietitians, transplant teams, and allied healthcare professionals
* Guide renal transplant evaluations, pre-transplant preparation, post-transplant follow-up, and complication monitoring
* Interpret renal imaging, kidney biopsy results, laboratory investigations, and advanced diagnostic findings
* Educate families on disease management, medication adherence, diet, lifestyle modifications, dialysis care, transplant planning, and long-term follow-up
* Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions, clinical audits, research activities, CME programs, and quality improvement initiatives
* Maintain accurate patient records, treatment plans, dialysis documentation, consent notes, and follow-up details in line with DHA and hospital standards
* Promote patient safety, clinical innovation, and evidence-based pediatric nephrology practice across the service
Ideal Profile
* Board certification in Pediatric Nephrology such as American Board, Royal College, or equivalent recognized qualification
* DHA license or DHA eligibility is required
* Minimum 5 years of post-specialization experience in a tertiary or academic hospital setting
* Proven expertise in managing complex pediatric renal cases and dialysis care for children
* Strong knowledge of congenital renal disorders, nephrotic and nephritic syndromes, kidney disease, hypertension, tubular disorders, and electrolyte abnormalities
* Experience with pediatric peritoneal dialysis, hemodialysis, renal transplant evaluation, and post-transplant management
* Confident ability to interpret renal imaging, biopsy results, and advanced laboratory diagnostics
* Excellent communication skills with a compassionate, family-centered approach
* Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary pediatric and renal care teams
