Role Context
The Consultant Physician - Pediatric Oncology BMT will provide advanced clinical care for children with cancer and blood disorders, with a strong focus on bone marrow transplantation pathways. The role supports critical patient outcomes through accurate diagnosis, intensive treatment planning, transplant supervision, post-transplant care, clinical leadership, and compassionate communication with children and families during complex treatment journeys.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and treat pediatric oncology and hematology conditions, including leukemia, lymphoma, solid tumors, and complex blood disorders
* Perform, supervise, and clinically oversee autologous and allogeneic bone marrow transplant procedures
* Lead multidisciplinary case reviews and develop individualized treatment plans for pediatric cancer and BMT patients
* Manage pre-transplant assessment, transplant readiness, conditioning pathways, post-transplant monitoring, and complication management
* Provide expert clinical input for patients requiring intensive oncology treatment, hematology care, and long-term follow-up
* Supervise junior physicians, fellows, and clinical teams in pediatric oncology, hematology, and BMT protocols
* Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment options, transplant risks, expected outcomes, recovery needs, and post-transplant care
* Participate in clinical trials, research initiatives, academic activities, CME programs, and hospital-based learning forums
* Ensure compliance with international standards of care, hospital policies, patient safety requirements, and UAE healthcare expectations
* Maintain accurate and timely documentation of treatment plans, transplant notes, patient records, consent discussions, and follow-up care
* Participate in on-call rotations and emergency coverage for pediatric oncology and transplant-related cases when required
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree such as MD or equivalent from a recognized institution
* Board certification in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology
* Fellowship training in Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplantation is mandatory
* Minimum 5 years of post-fellowship experience in pediatric oncology and bone marrow transplantation
* Eligibility for UAE healthcare licensure is preferred
* Western-trained candidates from the US, UK, Canada, Australia, or similar systems are preferred
* Strong expertise in leukemia, lymphoma, solid tumors, pediatric hematologic disorders, and transplant medicine
* Confident experience with autologous and allogeneic BMT care pathways
* Excellent leadership, communication, counselling, and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary tertiary care teams in high-acuity clinical environments
