Role Context
The Consultant Physician - Pediatric Oncology BMT will provide advanced diagnosis, treatment, transplant supervision, and long-term care for children with cancer and hematologic conditions. The role requires strong clinical leadership, careful risk assessment, family-centered communication, and close collaboration with oncology, hematology, transplant, intensive care, nursing, laboratory, and allied health teams to support safe outcomes for pediatric patients.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and manage pediatric oncology and hematology conditions, including leukemia, lymphoma, solid tumors, and complex blood disorders
* Perform and oversee autologous and allogeneic bone marrow transplantation care pathways
* Lead multidisciplinary case reviews and develop individualized treatment plans for pediatric oncology and BMT patients
* Manage pre-transplant evaluation, conditioning preparation, transplant monitoring, post-transplant complications, and long-term follow-up
* Supervise junior physicians, fellows, and clinical staff involved in pediatric oncology and BMT protocols
* Provide clear education and counselling to patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment choices, transplant risks, recovery expectations, and post-transplant care
* Ensure patient care follows international standards, hospital policies, safety protocols, and UAE healthcare requirements
* Participate in clinical trials, research initiatives, CME activities, academic programs, and service development projects
* Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient records, treatment plans, transplant notes, consent discussions, and follow-up care
* Participate in on-call rotations and emergency coverage for pediatric oncology, hematology, and transplant-related cases when required
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree such as MD or equivalent from a recognized institution
* Board certification in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology
* Fellowship training in Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplantation is mandatory
* Minimum 5 years of post-fellowship experience in pediatric oncology and bone marrow transplantation
* Eligibility for UAE healthcare licensure is preferred
* Western-trained candidates from the US, UK, Canada, Australia, or similar systems are preferred
* Strong clinical expertise in pediatric cancers, hematologic disorders, BMT protocols, and transplant complication management
* Confident experience with autologous and allogeneic bone marrow transplant programs
* Excellent leadership, communication, counselling, and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work effectively in a tertiary care environment with multidisciplinary teams
