Role Context
The Consultant Physician - Rehabilitation Medicine will provide expert clinical care for patients requiring physical rehabilitation, functional recovery, pain management, and long-term support after injury, illness, surgery, or disability. The role brings together medical assessment, rehabilitation planning, therapy coordination, patient education, and team leadership to help patients regain independence and improve quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess physical medicine, rehabilitation, mobility, pain, and functional care needs
* Develop individualized rehabilitation treatment plans based on diagnosis, medical history, patient goals, and clinical assessment
* Use appropriate rehabilitation approaches, including therapeutic exercise, manual therapy support, pain management strategies, mobility restoration, and functional recovery planning
* Monitor patient progress, review treatment response, and adjust rehabilitation plans when clinically required
* Educate patients and families on treatment compliance, self-care techniques, mobility support, injury prevention, and recovery expectations
* Collaborate with physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, rehabilitation technicians, physicians, and allied health professionals to coordinate holistic care
* Provide consultant-level guidance for patients with physical disabilities, musculoskeletal injuries, neurological conditions, chronic illnesses, and post-operative rehabilitation needs
* Stay updated with new developments in physical medicine, rehabilitation therapy, assistive technologies, and patient recovery strategies
* Supervise and mentor junior staff, including physical therapists, occupational therapists, rehabilitation technicians, and clinical team members
* Participate in quality improvement activities and support development of departmental policies, protocols, and care pathways
* Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and follow-up recommendations
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree from an accredited institution
* Board certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
* Minimum 5 years of experience as a Consultant in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
* Strong clinical knowledge of rehabilitation medicine, physical therapy principles, functional assessment, and recovery planning
* Experience managing patients with injuries, chronic illnesses, disabilities, mobility limitations, and post-acute rehabilitation needs
* Ability to lead multidisciplinary rehabilitation plans in a hospital or specialist care environment
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with patients, families, and clinical teams
* Proficiency in English is required, while Arabic language skills are an advantage
* Comfortable working in a multicultural healthcare setting
