The Consultant Plastic Surgeon - Reconstructive Care provides advanced surgical services for patients requiring functional restoration, cosmetic enhancement, trauma repair, burns reconstruction, hand surgery, and complex soft tissue procedures. The role combines clinical accuracy, surgical skill, patient counselling, and careful follow-up to support safe recovery and strong patient satisfaction.
This position has high value within a modern healthcare setting because plastic and reconstructive surgery often supports both physical recovery and patient confidence. The consultant will work with emergency medicine, orthopaedics, dermatology, ENT, oncology, anesthesia, nursing, and rehabilitation teams to provide coordinated care for complex and elective cases.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide specialist reconstructive and cosmetic plastic surgery services in line with international standards, patient safety requirements, and clinical governance expectations.
* Perform advanced surgical procedures, including trauma reconstruction, burns management, hand surgery, soft tissue reconstruction, scar revision, and aesthetic interventions.
* Lead outpatient clinics, assess surgical suitability, review patient expectations, and develop individualized treatment plans.
* Conduct detailed pre-operative assessments, including medical history review, risk evaluation, clinical examination, consent discussions, and surgical planning.
* Manage post-operative follow-up, wound care, recovery monitoring, complication prevention, and long-term outcome review.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure complete care for trauma, burns, reconstructive, aesthetic, and complex surgical patients.
* Participate in on-call duties as required by the department, including urgent surgical consultations and emergency case support.
* Maintain accurate consultation records, operative notes, consent documentation, clinical reports, and follow-up plans.
* Support quality assurance, clinical governance, audits, patient safety initiatives, and continuous improvement activity.
* Train and mentor junior doctors, residents, and clinical staff involved in plastic surgery care.
* Communicate clearly with Arabic-speaking patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, procedure risks, recovery timelines, and expected outcomes.
Ideal Profile
* Board certification, fellowship, or equivalent specialist qualification in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
* Valid DHA license or eligibility for Dubai Health Authority consultant registration.
* Minimum 5-7 years of post-consultant experience is preferred.
* Fluency in Arabic is mandatory, with strong English communication skills also valuable for multidisciplinary care.
* Strong surgical expertise across reconstructive surgery, aesthetic surgery, trauma reconstruction, burns care, hand surgery, and post-operative management.
* Proven record of delivering safe outcomes in both reconstructive and cosmetic plastic surgery procedures.
* Excellent communication, patient counselling, teamwork, documentation, and clinical decision-making skills.
* Ability to work effectively in a multicultural healthcare environment with high standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and patient care.
