Role Context
The Consultant - Plastic Surgery will provide advanced reconstructive and aesthetic surgical services for patients requiring functional restoration, cosmetic enhancement, trauma repair, burns care, hand surgery, and post-operative recovery support. The role requires strong surgical planning, Arabic communication skills, accurate clinical documentation, and the ability to work with multidisciplinary teams in complex patient cases. The consultant will help strengthen plastic surgery services in Dubai through safe operative care, ethical patient counselling, quality assurance, and continuous improvement of clinical standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide expert reconstructive and cosmetic plastic surgery services for patients with medical, functional, trauma-related, burns-related, and aesthetic needs.
* Perform advanced procedures including trauma reconstruction, burns management, hand surgery, scar revision, soft tissue reconstruction, and aesthetic surgical interventions.
* Lead outpatient consultations, patient assessments, pre-operative evaluations, surgical planning, and informed consent discussions.
* Manage post-operative follow-up, wound care, complication prevention, recovery monitoring, and long-term treatment planning.
* Assess patient expectations carefully and provide realistic counselling on surgical options, risks, outcomes, recovery timelines, and aftercare.
* Collaborate with dermatology, orthopaedics, oncology, ENT, anesthesia, emergency medicine, critical care, nursing, and rehabilitation teams to support comprehensive patient care.
* Participate in on-call duties and provide specialist input for urgent plastic surgery cases when required by the department.
* Maintain high standards of medical documentation, including consultation notes, operative reports, consent forms, treatment plans, discharge summaries, and follow-up records.
* Ensure practice remains aligned with DHA requirements, clinical governance frameworks, infection control standards, patient safety rules, and hospital policies.
* Contribute to clinical audits, morbidity and mortality reviews, service improvement activities, and continuous quality improvement projects.
* Support training and mentorship of junior doctors, residents, and clinical team members through case discussion, procedural guidance, and professional supervision.
* Deliver Arabic-speaking patient care with cultural awareness, confidentiality, professionalism, and a strong focus on patient trust and satisfaction.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree such as MD, MBBS, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
* Board certification or fellowship in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
* Valid DHA Consultant License or eligibility for Consultant registration in Dubai.
* Minimum 5-7 years of post-consultant experience is preferred.
* Fluency in Arabic is mandatory, with strong English communication skills preferred.
* Proven surgical expertise in reconstructive procedures, cosmetic plastic surgery, trauma reconstruction, burns management, hand surgery, and aesthetic interventions.
* Strong ability to manage outpatient clinics, pre-operative planning, surgical execution, and post-operative follow-up.
* Experience working with multidisciplinary healthcare teams in complex surgical cases.
* Excellent communication, teamwork, patient counselling, and documentation skills.
