Role Context
The Consultant Radiologist - PET-CT Imaging will provide advanced diagnostic interpretation for complex PET-CT and hybrid imaging cases that support oncology, neurology, cardiology, surgical planning, disease staging, treatment response monitoring, and multidisciplinary clinical decisions. This role has strong clinical value within a tertiary care environment because accurate metabolic and anatomical imaging interpretation directly influences cancer management, neurological assessment, patient pathways, and treatment planning. The consultant will also contribute to imaging quality, radiation safety, academic development, and diagnostic service improvement while working in Saudi Arabia.
Key Responsibilities
* Interpret PET-CT and hybrid imaging studies including SPECT-CT and diagnostic CT for oncology, neurology, cardiology, and complex tertiary care cases.
* Provide clear, accurate, and timely radiology reports using PACS, RIS, and advanced imaging reporting platforms.
* Support oncologists, neurologists, surgeons, nuclear medicine teams, and referring physicians with diagnostic interpretation, staging input, and treatment planning guidance.
* Assess metabolic imaging patterns, tracer uptake, anatomical correlation, radiopharmaceutical behavior, and clinically relevant imaging findings.
* Participate in tumor boards, multidisciplinary meetings, case reviews, clinical audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
* Supervise and guide nuclear medicine technologists, junior radiologists, residents, and imaging department staff when required.
* Ensure compliance with radiation safety protocols, SCFHS standards, hospital policies, imaging governance, and patient safety requirements.
* Maintain strong communication with clinical teams to clarify referral questions, explain diagnostic findings, and recommend suitable follow-up imaging when needed.
* Contribute to research, teaching, continuous medical education, peer review, and academic activities within the imaging department.
* Stay updated with advances in PET-CT imaging, hybrid imaging systems, oncologic imaging, tracer kinetics, radiopharmaceutical protocols, and international radiology standards.
* Maintain confidentiality, ethical reporting standards, accurate clinical documentation, and high-quality diagnostic workflow at all times.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree such as MBBS or equivalent from a recognized institution.
* Completed residency training in Radiology.
* Fellowship or subspecialty training in PET-CT, Nuclear Medicine Imaging, or an equivalent advanced imaging field.
* Board certification such as American Board, UK CCT, Canadian FRCP, or equivalent international qualification.
* Minimum 3-5 years of post-fellowship experience in PET-CT interpretation.
* Eligible for Consultant classification by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
* Strong background in oncologic imaging, metabolic diagnostics, hybrid imaging, and complex radiology reporting.
* Familiarity with radiopharmaceutical protocols, tracer kinetics, radiation safety, and nuclear medicine workflow.
* Proficient in PACS, RIS, advanced imaging platforms, and structured reporting systems.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across oncology, neurology, surgery, nuclear medicine, and multidisciplinary care teams.
* Proficiency in English is required; Arabic language ability is an advantage.
* Interest in academic teaching, clinical research, audit work, and imaging service development is preferred.
