Role Context
This Consultant
The consultant will lead coordinated rehabilitation programs involving physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, psychologists, rehabilitation nurses, and other clinical professionals. Treatment progress will be reviewed regularly to ensure each patient receives appropriate support throughout recovery and long-term condition management.
Key Responsibilities
* Assess patients with physical impairments, musculoskeletal injuries, neurological conditions, neuromuscular disorders, and functional disabilities.
* Review medical histories, diagnostic findings, mobility limitations, pain levels, and daily living capabilities.
* Develop individualized rehabilitation plans designed to restore function, mobility, independence, and quality of life.
* Establish measurable rehabilitation goals based on each patient\'s clinical condition and personal needs.
* Use appropriate treatment approaches, including therapeutic exercise, functional training, manual techniques, electrotherapy, and assistive devices.
* Prescribe and oversee suitable rehabilitation interventions within the physician\'s professional scope of practice.
* Lead multidisciplinary care involving physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, psychologists, and rehabilitation nurses.
* Coordinate with other medical and surgical specialists when patients require integrated treatment.
* Monitor functional progress, treatment response, and potential complications throughout the rehabilitation process.
* Modify treatment plans when necessary to support better clinical and functional outcomes.
* Educate patients and families about injury prevention, functional adaptation, assistive strategies, and long-term wellness.
* Provide clear guidance regarding expected progress, home-based care, and continuing rehabilitation requirements.
* Participate in case conferences, interdisciplinary rounds, and care-planning meetings.
* Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical documentation in accordance with regulatory and hospital standards.
* Follow evidence-based rehabilitation protocols, clinical governance requirements, and patient-safety procedures.
* Contribute to departmental development, service improvement, clinical audits, and quality initiatives.
* Support the training and professional development of medical and rehabilitation staff when required.
* Remain current with developments in rehabilitation medicine, treatment techniques, and supporting technologies.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree such as an MBBS, MD, or equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
* Board certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
* Minimum of 5 years of post-certification experience.
* Previous experience in a hospital or specialized rehabilitation center is preferred.
* Advanced knowledge of physical rehabilitation, functional recovery, and disability management.
* Strong understanding of neurological, musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, and chronic disabling conditions.
* Familiarity with current rehabilitation technologies, therapeutic techniques, and clinical best practices.
* Ability to create individualized, goal-oriented rehabilitation plans.
* Proven ability to lead and collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
* Excellent clinical assessment, decision-making, and progress-monitoring skills.
* Strong communication, interpersonal, and patient-counselling abilities.
* Compassionate and patient-centered approach to long-term rehabilitation care.
* Fluency in English is required.
* Arabic language proficiency is an advantage.
