Role Context
The Consultant in Sports Medicine and Orthopedics is responsible for restoring mobility, reducing pain, and improving long-term musculoskeletal health for patients suffering from sports injuries and orthopedic conditions. This role supports hospital excellence through advanced surgical care, rehabilitation planning, preventive education, and multidisciplinary collaboration to ensure patients return safely to active lifestyles.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and manage sports-related injuries including fractures, ligament tears, sprains, strains, dislocations, and joint instability
* Perform advanced orthopedic surgical procedures such as arthroscopy, ligament reconstruction, joint repair, and minimally invasive interventions
* Develop personalized treatment plans involving surgery, rehabilitation, pain management, and physiotherapy pathways
* Guide patients on injury prevention, physical conditioning, exercise techniques, and recovery planning
* Collaborate with physiotherapists, athletic trainers, rehabilitation specialists, and primary care teams for coordinated treatment
* Conduct pre-operative and post-operative assessments to ensure safe recovery and optimal outcomes
* Supervise residents, junior doctors, and medical staff while supporting clinical education and mentoring
* Maintain complete patient records and compliance with DHA regulations and hospital clinical governance
* Stay updated with modern developments in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine through CME and specialist conferences
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree from an accredited and recognized university
* Board certification in Orthopedic Surgery from a recognized medical authority
* Fellowship training in Sports Medicine is essential
* Minimum five years of experience working as a Consultant in Sports Medicine and Orthopedics
* Strong surgical expertise in arthroscopy and ligament reconstruction procedures
* Western-trained specialists are strongly preferred
* Excellent communication and patient counseling abilities
* Strong clinical judgment, leadership, and multidisciplinary teamwork skills
