The consultant will work closely with pediatric surgeons, interventional radiologists, cardiologists, intensivists, plastic surgeons, nurses, and allied healthcare teams to support optimal patient outcomes.

Role Context
The Consultant Surgeon - Pediatric Vascular provides expert surgical care for young patients with congenital and acquired vascular conditions. The role involves diagnosis, surgical planning, operative management, emergency care, postoperative monitoring, family counselling, and long-term follow-up for complex pediatric vascular cases.
This position is highly important in a tertiary pediatric setting because vascular disorders in children often require careful multidisciplinary planning, age-specific surgical decision-making, and coordinated follow-up. The consultant will support service quality through clinical audits, research, teaching, patient safety initiatives, and continuous improvement in pediatric vascular care.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and manage congenital and acquired vascular conditions in infants, children, and adolescents.
* Perform pediatric vascular surgical procedures, including vascular reconstruction, vascular malformation treatment, aneurysm management, and complex vascular access procedures.
* Evaluate and treat pediatric patients with arterial, venous, lymphatic, traumatic, and complex vascular disorders.
* Provide inpatient and outpatient consultations for pediatric vascular surgery cases requiring specialist assessment and treatment planning.
* Develop individualized surgical and postoperative care plans based on diagnosis, imaging findings, patient age, clinical risk, and multidisciplinary recommendations.
* Collaborate closely with pediatric surgeons, interventional radiologists, cardiologists, intensivists, plastic surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and allied healthcare teams.
* Participate in emergency management of pediatric vascular trauma, acute ischemia, bleeding complications, and urgent vascular conditions.
* Support hybrid vascular and endovascular pediatric procedures where clinically appropriate and available.
* Educate patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, surgical risks, recovery expectations, wound care, and postoperative follow-up.
* Maintain accurate consultation notes, operative reports, consent documentation, progress records, and follow-up plans in line with DHA requirements and hospital policies.
* Participate in clinical audits, research activity, teaching sessions, case discussions, and continuing medical education programs.
* Ensure adherence to patient safety standards, infection control protocols, surgical governance, and quality improvement practices.
Ideal Profile
* MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
* Board certification, fellowship, or equivalent specialist qualification in Vascular Surgery with subspecialty experience in Pediatric Vascular Surgery.
* Active DHA Consultant License or eligibility for Dubai Health Authority consultant licensure.
* Minimum 5-7 years of post-board consultant experience in pediatric vascular surgery within a tertiary care or academic hospital.
* Strong expertise in complex pediatric vascular procedures, vascular reconstruction, vascular malformations, pediatric vascular anomalies, aneurysm care, and vascular access procedures.
* Experience in hybrid vascular and endovascular pediatric procedures is an advantage.
* Academic, research, audit, or teaching experience is preferred.
* Excellent surgical judgment, communication skills, family counselling ability, and multidisciplinary teamwork.
* Ability to work effectively in a multicultural healthcare environment with strong attention to patient safety and clinical outcomes.
