This position supports a multidisciplinary ophthalmology facility where advanced retinal imaging, evidence-based clinical decisions, complex surgical planning, and coordinated patient care are essential. The consultant will manage retinal detachment, macular disorders, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, retinal vascular disease, and other sight-threatening retinal conditions.

Key Responsibilities
* Perform complex vitreoretinal surgeries, including pars plana vitrectomy, retinal detachment repair, macular surgery, and other advanced retina procedures.
* Diagnose and manage diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, retinal vascular diseases, macular disorders, and other retinal pathologies.
* Conduct laser photocoagulation, intravitreal injections, and additional therapeutic procedures used in advanced medical and surgical retina care.
* Use retinal imaging technologies such as OCT, FFA, ICG, and wide-field imaging to support diagnosis, treatment planning, and follow-up decisions.
* Develop individualized treatment strategies for patients with acute, chronic, or progressive retinal conditions.
* Collaborate with ophthalmologists, optometrists, nurses, imaging technicians, anesthetists, and other clinical specialists to deliver complete patient care.
* Monitor post-operative outcomes and manage complications or follow-up needs with strong attention to visual recovery and patient safety.
* Contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement, retina service development, and patient safety initiatives.
* Support training, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing activities for junior doctors, residents, fellows, and allied ophthalmic staff.
* Maintain accurate clinical documentation and follow licensing, facility, and healthcare regulatory requirements.
Ideal Profile
* Tier 1 medical qualification such as American Board Certification, UK CCT, Canadian Fellowship, Australian Fellowship, New Zealand Fellowship, or equivalent recognized qualification.
* Fellowship training in Vitreoretinal Surgery from a recognized institution.
* Demonstrated excellence in vitreoretinal surgical outcomes and clinical decision-making.
* Eligibility for or possession of UAE consultant-level healthcare licensing.
* Strong experience in both medical retina and surgical retina care.
* Proven expertise in pars plana vitrectomy, retinal detachment repair, macular disorder management, laser procedures, and intravitreal injections.
* Confident use of retinal imaging and diagnostic technologies including OCT, FFA, ICG, and wide-field imaging.
* Strong communication skills with a patient-focused and evidence-based clinical approach.
* Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary ophthalmology team.
