What Does a General Surgeon Do?
A General Surgeon is responsible for diagnosing and treating a wide range of internal conditions through both non-invasive and surgical methods. This role requires superior surgical skills, exceptional clinical judgment, and a strong ability to connect with patients and lead their recovery journey.
What Are the Key Responsibilities?
- Evaluate patients to determine surgical needs using imaging tests such as X-rays, MRIs, and CT scans
- Diagnose internal injuries, chronic conditions, and diseases requiring surgical intervention
- Make informed decisions on the necessity and timing of surgeries based on clinical data and patient condition
- Explain procedures, risks, and outcomes to patients and their families
- Plan and execute surgical operations using advanced, minimally invasive techniques
- Collaborate with anesthesiologists, nurses, and other specialists before, during, and after surgery
- Prescribe medications, antibiotics, and special diets for pre- and post-operative care
- Maintain accurate medical records and patient progress reports
- Coordinate with other physicians to ensure holistic patient care
- Refer complex cases to specialized professionals when needed

- Doctor of Medicine (MD) with a specialization in General Surgery
Experience:
