The Head of Department for Pediatrics plays a critical leadership role in shaping pediatric healthcare services, improving patient outcomes, and maintaining the highest clinical standards across the department. This position supports hospital growth by overseeing pediatric consultants, leading operational excellence, strengthening academic development, and ensuring world-class pediatric care delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the Pediatric Department to ensure delivery of safe, evidence-based, and high-quality pediatric healthcare services
* Oversee daily clinical operations, departmental strategy, service expansion, and long-term pediatric program development
* Supervise pediatric consultants, specialists, residents, fellows, and junior staff while promoting high professional standards
* Ensure compliance with DHA regulations, international accreditation standards, and hospital clinical governance policies
* Collaborate with executive leadership on budgeting, workforce planning, resource allocation, and quality improvement strategies
* Drive service innovation and strengthen pediatric subspecialty programs within the hospital
* Promote a strong culture of continuous learning, research, academic development, and professional education
* Support mentoring, training, and leadership development for the next generation of pediatricians
* Lead departmental participation in internal committees, governance meetings, and external professional forums
* Engage in community outreach programs and patient education initiatives to improve pediatric health awareness
Ideal Profile
* American Board Certification in Pediatrics is mandatory
* Minimum ten years of clinical pediatric experience with at least five years in a senior leadership role
* Fluent Arabic and English communication skills are essential
* Proven experience managing pediatric services within tertiary-care or academic healthcare institutions
* Strong leadership, decision-making, and multidisciplinary team management abilities
* Excellent mentoring, communication, and organizational skills
* Familiarity with GCC healthcare systems and regional cultural understanding is highly desirable
* Eligibility for DHA consultant-level specialist licensing in Dubai
