Role Context
The Pediatric ENT Consultant will provide expert evaluation and treatment for infants, children, and adolescents with congenital, developmental, infectious, airway, hearing, sinus, and throat-related disorders. The role supports timely diagnosis, effective surgical intervention, family education, and coordinated care for children whose ENT conditions may affect breathing, hearing, speech, sleep, learning, and quality of life. Clinical precision, calm communication, and strong collaboration with pediatric subspecialties are essential for achieving reliable outcomes in complex pediatric ENT cases.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and manage pediatric ENT disorders, including congenital abnormalities, recurrent infections, airway concerns, hearing-related conditions, sinus disease, tonsillar problems, and acquired otolaryngologic conditions.
* Perform pediatric ENT surgical procedures such as tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, tympanoplasty, endoscopic sinus surgery, and other clinically appropriate otolaryngology interventions.
* Provide consultations and second opinions for complex pediatric ENT cases requiring specialist review, imaging interpretation, surgical planning, or multidisciplinary input.
* Interpret diagnostic findings including audiograms, CT scans, MRIs, endoscopic assessments, clinical examination results, and related investigations.
* Collaborate with audiologists, speech therapists, pediatricians, radiologists, anesthesiologists, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals to deliver complete child-centered care.
* Develop individualized medical, surgical, and follow-up plans based on the child’s age, diagnosis, symptom severity, functional needs, and family concerns.
* Counsel parents and caregivers on treatment options, procedure risks, recovery expectations, hearing support, speech-related concerns, and preventive care.
* Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, consultation notes, operative reports, consent documentation, and follow-up plans in line with hospital policies and UAE healthcare standards.
* Participate in departmental meetings, clinical audits, CME activities, quality improvement initiatives, and pediatric case discussions.
* Supervise and mentor junior doctors, residents, medical students, and clinical staff when required.
* Follow patient safety protocols, infection control standards, ethical medical practice, and evidence-based ENT care guidelines.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree with recognized specialization in Otolaryngology or ENT.
* Fellowship, board certification, or equivalent qualification in Pediatric ENT is preferred.
* Western training is required.
* Minimum 5 years of post-specialization experience, with a strong focus on pediatric ENT cases.
* Experienced in managing common and complex pediatric ear, nose, throat, airway, hearing, and sinus conditions.
* Skilled in pediatric otolaryngologic procedures including tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, tympanoplasty, and endoscopic sinus surgery.
* Strong ability to interpret audiograms, CT scans, MRIs, and diagnostic reports relevant to pediatric ENT care.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to reassure children and explain clinical decisions clearly to families.
* Fluency in English is required; Arabic language skills are an advantage.
* Able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary pediatric healthcare environment.
