Position Overview
The Pre-Approval Officer plays a critical role in supporting healthcare revenue cycle management by ensuring insurance approvals are processed accurately and without delay. This role directly improves patient access to treatment, strengthens billing efficiency, and minimizes revenue leakage by managing approvals, documentation quality, and payer compliance across HealthHub Clinics.
Key Responsibilities
* Review and process assigned insurance pre-approval requests for inpatient, outpatient, and pharmacy services with high accuracy
* Update approvals received from insurers in internal systems while maintaining complete documentation standards
* Coordinate with doctors, nurses, billing teams, and administrative staff to obtain missing documents and required clarifications
* Meet daily productivity targets, turnaround times, and approval quality standards for insurance submissions
* Perform quantitative and qualitative reviews of medical records to ensure compliance with coding standards, DHA requirements, and payer policies
* Submit pre-approvals in line with KPIs to improve first-round approval rates and reduce resubmissions
* Monitor approvals and stakeholder coordination to prevent revenue loss and minimize insurance claim rejections
* Analyze denial trends, recommend corrective actions, and escalate delayed or rejected approvals when necessary
* Maintain accurate reports related to approvals, denials, pending cases, and follow-up actions
* Support and educate billing teams, approval staff, and clinical documentation teams to improve workflow efficiency and compliance
Ideal Profile
* Emirati national with a valid family book as required under Emiratisation programs
* Certified professional coding qualification from a recognized institution
* Medical or paramedical qualification required
* Minimum 3 years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle management, insurance approvals, or claims processing
* Strong medical knowledge to support efficient claim reconciliation and insurance pre-authorization
* Good understanding of DHA regulations, payer policies, and medical coding compliance
* Excellent analytical, negotiation, and presentation skills
* Strong decision-making ability and performance under pressure
* Clear communication skills in both Arabic and English
* Strong stakeholder management and collaborative working approach
