Role Context
The Registered Nurse - Dental Services provides direct clinical support throughout dental consultations and procedures while helping maintain safe, efficient, and patient-focused treatment environments. The position combines registered nursing responsibilities with hands-on chairside assistance across general dentistry and specialist dental services.
Working alongside general dentists, orthodontists, implant dentists, and other dental specialists, the nurse will prepare clinical areas, assist during treatment, maintain sterile instruments, support patient preparation and recovery, and ensure accurate documentation. The role contributes directly to treatment quality, infection control, patient comfort, and smooth clinic operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide chairside nursing assistance during dental consultations, examinations, and clinical procedures.
* Support general dentists, orthodontists, implant dentists, and other dental specialists during treatment.
* Prepare treatment rooms with the required instruments, equipment, materials, and consumables before patient appointments.
* Assist during general dentistry procedures according to clinical protocols and scope of practice.
* Support orthodontic treatments by preparing instruments and assisting specialists throughout procedures.
* Provide chairside assistance during implant dentistry procedures and related clinical interventions.
* Assist with restorative and cosmetic dentistry treatments when required.
* Prepare patients before treatment and provide appropriate support following procedures.
* Monitor patient comfort and safety throughout the dental treatment journey.
* Sterilise dental instruments in accordance with DHA requirements and established infection control standards.
* Maintain treatment rooms, dental units, instruments, and equipment in clean and operational condition.
* Follow infection prevention, cross-contamination control, clinical waste, and patient safety procedures.
* Maintain accurate nursing notes, dental documentation, treatment records, and patient information within clinic systems.
* Provide approved post-treatment instructions and reinforce guidance given by the treating dentist or specialist.
* Assist with management of clinical supplies and ensure essential materials are replenished before shortages affect patient care.
* Handle dental equipment and materials carefully and report maintenance issues when identified.
* Coordinate with dentists, nurses, reception teams, and other clinical personnel to maintain efficient patient flow.
* Participate in mandatory training, BLS updates, clinical competency development, and ongoing professional education.
Ideal Profile
Candidates should hold a Bachelor\'s Degree or Diploma in Nursing and have either a valid DHA Registered Nurse license or DHA Eligibility Letter. A current BLS certification is required.
The role requires at least two years of nursing experience within a dental clinic environment. Strong hands-on chairside assistance experience is essential, particularly in General Dentistry procedures.
Previous exposure to Orthodontics, Implant Dentistry, Cosmetic Dentistry, and other specialist dental services is highly preferred. Candidates should also demonstrate sound knowledge of instrument sterilisation, infection prevention, patient safety, and dental clinical workflows.
Good computer skills and accurate clinical documentation are important for maintaining efficient records. Fluent English communication is required, while Tagalog, Nepali, or Arabic language capability is highly preferred.
