What Does a Family Medicine Specialist Do?
As a Family Medicine Specialist, you will be responsible for managing a broad range of medical conditions across all age groups. Your role involves preventative care, chronic disease management, and collaborative treatment plans in a primary care setting supported by modern diagnostic facilities and a multidisciplinary clinical team.
What Are the Key Responsibilities?
- Provide patient-centered primary care services including consultations, diagnosis, and treatment
- Manage acute and chronic illnesses, coordinate preventive screenings and wellness care
- Maintain detailed medical records and uphold standards of confidentiality
- Collaborate with laboratory, radiology, and specialty departments for integrated care delivery
- Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement, and internal case reviews
- Stay updated with current guidelines, research, and best practices in family medicine
- Educate patients on disease prevention, healthy habits, and treatment adherence
What Skills Are Needed for a Family Medicine Specialist in Dubai?
Education:
- MBBS or MBChB or equivalent from an accredited institution
- Completion of a DHA/HAAD/MOH-recognized Family Medicine specialty qualification
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years post-specialization experience in a clinical setting
- Proven competence in managing adult and pediatric cases
Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) certified
- Valid DHA License or Eligibility
Skills:
- Broad knowledge of general medicine and primary care
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural environment
