Role Context
The Specialist Fetal Medicine plays a critical role in supporting maternal and fetal health by diagnosing fetal abnormalities, monitoring pregnancy risks, and guiding families through complex prenatal conditions. This position directly improves pregnancy outcomes through advanced imaging, specialist procedures, and multidisciplinary collaboration across obstetric and neonatal services.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform detailed fetal assessments including anomaly scans, growth scans, Doppler studies, and early pregnancy evaluations
* Conduct advanced fetal procedures such as amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling, fetal echocardiography, and other diagnostic interventions based on expertise
* Manage high-risk pregnancies in collaboration with obstetricians, neonatologists, genetic specialists, and multidisciplinary care teams
* Provide counseling to expectant parents regarding fetal conditions, prognosis, treatment pathways, and pregnancy management plans
* Interpret complex fetal imaging results, prenatal screening outcomes, and genetic testing reports
* Participate actively in maternal-fetal medicine clinics and multidisciplinary case reviews
* Ensure compliance with international fetal medicine guidelines and patient-centered care standards
* Support departmental quality improvement, patient safety programs, and clinical governance initiatives
* Mentor junior doctors, sonographers, and nursing teams involved in maternal and fetal care
* Maintain accurate patient records and detailed clinical documentation
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree with specialization in Obstetrics and Gynecology and advanced training in Fetal Medicine
* Board Certification or equivalent specialist qualification in Maternal Fetal Medicine or Fetal Medicine
* Minimum 5 years of specialist-level experience in fetal medicine and high-risk pregnancy management
* Strong expertise in advanced fetal imaging and prenatal diagnostic procedures
* Excellent communication skills with strong counseling ability for sensitive patient cases
* Experience in GCC healthcare systems is highly preferred
* Strong multidisciplinary teamwork and clinical decision-making skills
