Role Context
The Specialist Gastroenterologist will provide clinical care for patients with digestive system conditions, including reflux disease, inflammatory bowel disease, liver disorders, irritable bowel syndrome, and peptic ulcer disease. The role requires accurate diagnosis, skilled endoscopy practice, clear communication with patients, and effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to improve treatment outcomes and patient safety.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and treat gastrointestinal conditions, including GERD, IBS, IBD, liver disease, peptic ulcers, and related digestive disorders.
* Perform endoscopic procedures such as upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, and other approved diagnostic interventions.
* Review and interpret imaging reports, laboratory results, biopsies, and other diagnostic findings to guide treatment decisions.
* Provide inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology consultations, including urgent and emergency GI assessments when required.
* Work closely with dietitians, surgeons, radiologists, nurses, and other specialists to deliver integrated patient care.
* Maintain accurate patient records, procedure notes, treatment plans, and follow-up documentation.
* Ensure clinical practice follows UAE healthcare regulations, hospital policies, safety protocols, and quality standards.
* Participate in clinical audits, CME programs, departmental meetings, and quality improvement activities.
* Educate patients on digestive health, lifestyle changes, dietary management, medication adherence, and long-term disease prevention.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree from a recognized institution.
* Specialist certification in Gastroenterology, such as Arab Board, MRCP, or equivalent recognized qualification.
* Minimum 5 years of post-specialization experience in a hospital or specialist clinic environment.
* UAE MOH license or eligibility is required.
* Strong experience in diagnostic gastroenterology, endoscopy, and patient follow-up care.
* Fluent Arabic or English communication skills are preferred.
* Confident in managing culturally diverse patients with a clear, respectful, and patient-centered approach.
* Strong procedural judgment, clinical documentation habits, and commitment to safe medical practice.
* Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams in both routine and urgent GI care settings.
