Role Context
The Specialist Neurologist - Pediatric Care will provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and long-term follow-up for children with acute, chronic, developmental, and complex neurological conditions. The role is important for improving early diagnosis, reducing neurological complications, supporting developmental progress, and helping families understand treatment pathways. Working with pediatricians, neurosurgeons, rehabilitation specialists, psychologists, geneticists, radiologists, and multidisciplinary teams, the specialist will help deliver evidence-based pediatric neurology care aligned with DHA standards and international clinical guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and manage pediatric neurological disorders including epilepsy, developmental delays, cerebral palsy, neuromuscular disorders, headaches, movement disorders, neurogenetic conditions, and disorders of the central and peripheral nervous systems.
* Conduct comprehensive neurological assessments for infants, children, and adolescents, including clinical examination, developmental review, family history, risk assessment, and symptom analysis.
* Develop individualized treatment and long-term management plans based on diagnosis, age, neurological findings, family needs, and evidence-based pediatric neurology protocols.
* Interpret diagnostic investigations including EEG, MRI, CT scans, EMG-NCS where applicable, laboratory findings, neurophysiology reports, and specialist imaging results.
* Manage acute and chronic pediatric neurology cases across outpatient and inpatient settings, ensuring continuity of care and timely clinical escalation when required.
* Provide specialist care for children with epilepsy, seizure disorders, neurodevelopmental conditions, neuromuscular weakness, recurrent headaches, movement abnormalities, and suspected genetic neurological disorders.
* Collaborate with pediatricians, neurosurgeons, rehabilitation physicians, psychologists, geneticists, radiologists, therapists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
* Counsel patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, prognosis, medication plans, safety precautions, developmental expectations, and ongoing care needs.
* Maintain accurate and timely medical records, consultation notes, diagnostic interpretations, treatment plans, medication updates, and follow-up documentation.
* Ensure compliance with DHA regulations, organizational policies, clinical governance standards, patient safety requirements, and international pediatric neurology guidelines.
* Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, continuing medical education activities, departmental meetings, and case discussions.
* Support a patient-centered and culturally aware approach when communicating with children, parents, and families from diverse backgrounds.
Ideal Profile
* Medical Degree such as MBBS, MD, or equivalent from a recognized institution.
* Completion of an accredited Pediatric residency program.
* Fellowship, recognized subspecialty training, or equivalent specialist qualification in Pediatric Neurology.
* Board certification or equivalent specialist qualification recognized by Dubai Health Authority.
* DHA Eligibility Letter or valid DHA License as a Specialist Pediatric Neurologist.
* Minimum 3-5 years of post-specialization experience in Pediatric Neurology.
* Strong clinical expertise in epilepsy, developmental delays, cerebral palsy, neuromuscular disorders, headaches, movement disorders, neurogenetic conditions, and complex pediatric neurological disorders.
* Turkish Board certification or specialist training from Turkey is preferred.
* Turkish-speaking physicians are highly preferred.
* Previous experience in a tertiary care hospital or internationally accredited healthcare facility is an advantage.
* Confident in interpreting EEG, MRI, CT scans, EMG-NCS where applicable, laboratory findings, and pediatric neurodiagnostic reports.
* Excellent diagnostic, analytical, clinical decision-making, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Able to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team and multicultural patient environment.
