Role Context
The Specialist - Obstetrics and Gynecology will provide comprehensive care for women across prenatal, natal, postnatal, reproductive, and gynecological health needs. The role involves managing routine and high-risk pregnancies, performing gynecological procedures, supporting maternal and fetal wellbeing, and coordinating care with midwives, neonatologists, anesthesiologists, nurses, and allied healthcare teams. Arabic fluency is essential to build patient trust, explain clinical information clearly, and deliver culturally sensitive care in Dubai’s healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct detailed obstetric and gynecological consultations for women across reproductive health, pregnancy, childbirth, and postnatal recovery.
* Manage routine and high-risk pregnancies with careful monitoring of maternal and fetal wellbeing.
* Provide antenatal care, delivery support, postnatal follow-up, and patient education for mothers and families.
* Perform gynecological procedures including cesarean sections, hysterectomies, laparoscopies, D and C, colposcopy, and fertility-related interventions.
* Diagnose and manage common and complex gynecological conditions, including menstrual disorders, pelvic pain, fertility concerns, pregnancy complications, and reproductive health issues.
* Collaborate with midwives, neonatologists, anesthesiologists, radiologists, nurses, and other specialists to ensure integrated patient care.
* Communicate effectively with Arabic-speaking patients and families to explain diagnoses, procedures, risks, recovery expectations, and care plans.
* Maintain accurate consultation notes, patient records, procedure documentation, consent forms, treatment plans, and follow-up reports.
* Ensure all clinical practice follows DHA requirements, hospital policies, patient safety standards, and evidence-based protocols.
* Participate in departmental audits, CME activities, morbidity and mortality reviews, clinical case discussions, and quality improvement initiatives.
* Support a respectful and confidential care environment focused on comfort, privacy, cultural awareness, and patient confidence.
* Contribute to ongoing improvement of women’s health services through teamwork, clinical accountability, and professional development.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree such as MD, MBBS, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
* Specialist qualification in Obstetrics and Gynecology, such as Arab Board, MRCOG, or equivalent recognized certification.
* DHA license or eligibility as a Specialist Obstetrics and Gynecology physician.
* Minimum 5 years of post-specialization experience in a hospital, maternity unit, or women’s health clinic.
* Fluency in Arabic, spoken and written, is required.
* Strong English communication skills are preferred for multidisciplinary clinical coordination.
* Proven experience in antenatal care, postnatal care, pregnancy management, gynecological diagnosis, and women’s health procedures.
* Strong surgical and diagnostic skills across obstetric and gynecologic practice.
* Ability to manage routine and high-risk pregnancy cases with safe clinical judgment.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with a culturally sensitive and reassuring approach to patient communication.
* Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams in a busy healthcare setting.
