Role Context
The Specialist - Obstetrics and Gynecology will provide comprehensive women’s healthcare for Arabic-speaking patients and families, covering routine consultations, pregnancy monitoring, labor support, gynecological diagnosis, surgical procedures, and postnatal follow-up. The role requires strong clinical judgment, surgical confidence, culturally aware communication, and close collaboration with midwives, neonatologists, anesthesiologists, nurses, and multidisciplinary medical teams. The specialist will help strengthen women’s health services in Abu Dhabi by improving patient comfort, supporting safe maternity care, and maintaining high clinical standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct detailed obstetrics and gynecology consultations for women across reproductive, pregnancy, delivery, and postnatal stages.
* Manage routine and high-risk pregnancies with careful monitoring of maternal and fetal wellbeing.
* Provide antenatal care, delivery planning, postnatal follow-up, and patient education for mothers and families.
* Perform gynecological and obstetric procedures including cesarean sections, hysterectomies, laparoscopies, D and C, colposcopy, and fertility-related interventions.
* Assess and manage common and complex women’s health conditions using clinical examination, imaging, laboratory results, and diagnostic findings.
* Collaborate with midwives, neonatologists, anesthesiologists, nurses, fertility teams, and other healthcare professionals for integrated patient care.
* Communicate clearly with Arabic-speaking patients and families to explain diagnosis, treatment options, procedures, risks, and recovery expectations.
* Maintain accurate patient records, consultation notes, procedure reports, consent documentation, treatment plans, and follow-up summaries.
* Ensure compliance with DOH requirements, clinical protocols, patient safety standards, infection control procedures, and evidence-based medical practice.
* Participate in departmental audits, continuing medical education, case discussions, and quality improvement initiatives.
* Support a respectful and culturally sensitive care environment that promotes trust, privacy, and patient confidence.
* Contribute to safe clinical workflows and high-quality outcomes across obstetric and gynecologic services.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree from a recognized institution with specialization in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
* Specialist qualification in Obstetrics and Gynecology such as Arab Board, MRCOG, or an equivalent recognized qualification.
* DOH or HAAD license eligibility or active license as a Specialist Obstetrics and Gynecology physician.
* Minimum 5 years of post-specialization experience in a hospital or women’s health clinic.
* Fluency in Arabic, spoken and written, is required.
* Strong surgical and diagnostic skills across obstetric and gynecologic practice.
* Experience with cesarean sections, hysterectomies, laparoscopies, D and C, colposcopy, fertility-related care, antenatal care, and postnatal care.
* Strong ability to manage routine and high-risk pregnancy cases with safe clinical decision-making.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with culturally sensitive communication for patients and families.
