Role Context
The Engineering Supervisor protects the reliability of guest areas, back-of-house facilities and technical assets by coordinating inspections, repairs and planned maintenance. Working under
Key Responsibilities
The position combines shift supervision with practical maintenance planning, technical documentation and resource control.
* Develop a detailed understanding of the design, layout and operating procedures of hotel facilities.
* Keep machinery, engineering plants and hotel equipment in a constant state of operational readiness.
* Follow assigned shift duties according to the Engineering department roster.
* Oversee daily, weekly and monthly preventive maintenance activities.
* Inspect mechanical systems, hotel equipment and engineering facilities for operating defects.
* Assist with developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs for equipment and facilities.
* Maintain accurate maintenance records, asset inventories, inspection logs and technical reports.
* Update equipment histories and communicate recurring concerns to engineering management.
* Coordinate shift reports, inventory requirements and maintenance-related requisitions.
* Estimate the labour time, project cost and materials required for assigned repair work.
* Prepare requisitions for lumber, tools, replacement parts and other required supplies.
* Read technical drawings, specifications and work instructions before repair or modification activities.
* Inspect completed work for compliance with approved plans, instructions and relevant technical standards.
* Direct corrective work when completed repairs do not meet the required specifications.
* Prepare progress reports covering delays, adverse trends, findings and recommended actions.
* Apply the hotel\'s Safety Management System during routine work and emergency situations.
* Follow fire safety procedures and support emergency-response activities.
* Ensure team members understand hotel emergency procedures and remain prepared to respond.
* Maintain familiarity with operational manuals and engineering standards relevant to the position.
* Provide technical assistance to internal and external customers when required.
* Participate in departmental team-building activities and new-opening task force assignments.
* Complete additional engineering duties assigned by the Director of Engineering.
* Report for duty punctually in the required uniform with the correct identification badge.
Ideal Profile
The position requires a university degree in Hotel Management and at least three years of experience in a comparable hotel engineering or maintenance role. Candidates should demonstrate leadership, employee-training and interpersonal capabilities, along with practical knowledge of maintenance planning and technical operations.
The successful individual will communicate clearly, organize several maintenance priorities and maintain accurate records. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and an engineering operating system is required.
