Role Context
The Engineering
Core Duties
* Respond to guest repair requests and resolve maintenance issues professionally with little or no supervision.
* Communicate clearly with guests, customers, supervisors, and team members when handling maintenance concerns or service disruptions.
* Perform preventive maintenance on tools, equipment, guestroom systems, mechanical equipment, and building assets, including cleaning and lubrication.
* Inspect tools, machines, building systems, and engineering equipment to identify defects, risks, wear, or repair requirements.
* Carry and operate maintenance tools, radios, parts, and equipment safely during daily engineering assignments.
* Identify, locate, and operate shut-off valves for equipment and hotel utility systems when required.
* Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts, tools, and supplies needed for repairs and planned maintenance.
* Ensure daily activities, unresolved problems, and engineering updates are handed over to other shifts using approved communication systems.
* Read standard blueprints and electrical schematics related to plumbing, HVAC, and engineering maintenance activities.
* Apply above-average engineering operations skills and strong general mechanical ability to troubleshoot hotel systems.
* Demonstrate proficiency in at least three technical areas, above-average ability in three additional categories, and basic working knowledge across remaining hotel engineering areas.
* Work across air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic and electronic controls, carpentry, finishing, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and general building management as assigned.
* Use hand tools, power tools, technical materials, and repair equipment safely and correctly during maintenance tasks.
* Perform complex repairs on physical property, electrical systems, plumbing systems, mechanical equipment, air conditioners, refrigeration units, and pool heaters.
* Ensure maintenance methods, materials, and repair practices meet company standards and applicable local and national codes.
* Troubleshoot and repair pumps, motors, plumbing blockages, toilets, drains, lamps, air conditioning units, HVAC systems, cosmetic items, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, switches, outlets, televisions, and guestroom equipment.
* Use Lockout and Tagout procedures before performing maintenance work on equipment or energized systems.
* Operate engineering computer programs related to preventive maintenance, energy management, building systems, and connected devices.
* Perform advanced troubleshooting of hotel Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems.
* Support Engineer on Duty responsibilities, including system readings, operational rounds, and shift checks.
* Train and mentor other engineers when required by supervisors or operational needs.
* Report maintenance problems, unsafe conditions, safety hazards, accidents, injuries, equipment concerns, and operational risks immediately.
* Complete safety training and certifications while properly storing flammable materials and following all safety and security procedures.
* Maintain professional uniform, clean appearance, confidentiality, and proper care of company assets.
* Welcome and acknowledge guests according to company standards, anticipate service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and show genuine appreciation.
* Build positive working relationships with colleagues and support the engineering team in reaching shared maintenance goals.
* Enter and locate work-related information using computers and approved engineering systems.
* Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance and complete heavier movement tasks with support.
* Move safely on stairs, service ramps, and ladders while bending, twisting, pulling, stooping, reaching overhead, and working below knee level.
* Perform other reasonable engineering and maintenance duties requested by supervisors.
Ideal Profile
* High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent with vocational or technical background is preferred.
* Extensive experience and training in general maintenance, electrical work, refrigeration, parts inventory, requisition processes, interior surface preparation, exterior surface preparation, and painting.
* At least 2 years of hotel engineering or hotel maintenance experience is required.
* Strong practical knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration, electrical systems, plumbing, mechanical equipment, controls, and general building services.
* Ability to complete complex maintenance repairs with limited supervision while maintaining safety, quality, and code compliance.
* Advanced ability to read blueprints, electrical schematics, plumbing layouts, HVAC references, and basic engineering documentation.
* Good understanding of preventive maintenance systems, energy management programs, engineering computer systems, and maintenance reporting tools.
* Skilled in safe use of hand tools, power tools, technical equipment, and materials used in repair and maintenance work.
* Able to troubleshoot pumps, motors, air conditioners, refrigeration equipment, pool heaters, plumbing defects, electrical faults, and guestroom technical issues.
* Comfortable training or mentoring junior engineering team members when required.
* Professional guest service approach with clear communication, confidentiality, teamwork, and respect for brand standards.
* No supervisory experience is required.
* Valid Driver’s License is required.
* Universal Chlorofluorocarbon Certification is required.
* Must meet applicable state and federal certification or licensing requirements.
* Able to work full-time at King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street, Dubai Marina, Dubai.
