Role Context
The General Technician supports the hotel\'s engineering and maintenance operation by
completing assigned technical work accurately and within required timelines. The position helps maintain guest comfort, operational continuity and property standards by responding quickly to maintenance concerns and ensuring routine tasks are completed to a consistently high level.
Working independently across assigned areas, the technician must identify problems, take appropriate action and maintain readiness for both scheduled maintenance and unexpected operational requirements. Effective stock control, knowledge of hotel procedures and close attention to guest needs are important parts of the role.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out assigned maintenance and technical tasks according to established hotel standards.
* Complete daily work schedules efficiently and ensure assigned jobs are implemented within required timelines.
* Work independently while maintaining consistent workmanship and safety standards.
* Respond immediately to technical issues and concerns within the assigned area of responsibility.
* Inspect maintenance problems and take appropriate corrective action where possible.
* Escalate faults requiring specialist support or additional resources to the appropriate supervisor.
* Support mechanical and electrical maintenance activities according to individual competence and assigned responsibilities.
* Monitor workshop stocks, tools, spare parts and other maintenance materials.
* Identify low-stock items and arrange replenishment through approved procedures.
* Keep workshop materials organized and ensure tools remain available for daily operational needs.
* Check for additional guest requirements when completing work in occupied or guest-facing areas.
* Provide courteous and professional assistance when interacting with hotel guests.
* Follow hotel procedures when entering guestrooms or carrying out work in public areas.
* Maintain familiarity with all relevant Operational Standards Manuals and company documentation.
* Follow hotel emergency procedures and remain prepared to respond appropriately during incidents.
* Observe health, safety and security requirements during maintenance activities.
* Keep work areas orderly and remove tools, materials and debris after completing each assignment.
* Coordinate with engineering colleagues when maintenance tasks require support from another technical discipline.
* Assist Task Force Teams supporting hotel openings when required.
* Participate in engineering assignments associated with refurbishment, operational preparation or property improvement.
* Communicate clearly in English with supervisors, colleagues and other hotel departments.
* Carry out additional reasonable technical duties requested by engineering management.
Ideal Profile
The role requires a diploma or certificate in Mechanical, Electrical or a related technical discipline together with at least three years of experience in a comparable maintenance position.
Candidates should have practical knowledge of hotel, commercial building or facilities maintenance and be comfortable completing technical assignments with limited supervision.
A good understanding of workshop organization, spare-parts control and routine fault identification is important for maintaining efficient daily operations.
The successful candidate should demonstrate reliability, practical problem-solving ability and the confidence to respond promptly when technical issues arise.
