The Hostess serves as the first and final point of contact for many Royal Tea Room guests, making the position central to the overall dining experience. The role requires a balance of warmth, professionalism, organization, and natural communication while managing arrivals, seating flow, waiting lists, and guest expectations.
By maintaining an attentive presence at the entrance and coordinating closely with restaurant colleagues, the Hostess helps reduce waiting frustration, supports smooth table allocation, and ensures guests feel recognized and welcomed throughout their visit.
Key Responsibilities
* Welcome arriving guests warmly and create a polished first impression.
* Greet guests in a professional, friendly, and engaging manner.
* Confirm guest arrival details and coordinate seating according to table availability.
* Inform guests accurately of expected waiting times when immediate seating is unavailable.
* Maintain and monitor the waiting list throughout service.
* Keep track of table availability and coordinate closely with restaurant service teams.
* Escort guests to their tables with confidence and courtesy.
* Provide appropriate assistance to guests during arrival and seating.
* Maintain natural conversation with guests while respecting luxury service standards.
* Bid guests farewell as they leave and help create a positive final impression.
* Respond clearly to routine guest questions regarding the restaurant and available services.
* Maintain awareness of special occasions, VIP guests, and priority reservations.
* Communicate guest preferences or special requirements to relevant colleagues.
* Support smooth table flow during peak service periods.
* Work closely with waitstaff, supervisors, and restaurant management to coordinate guest movement.
