Hostess - Front of House Dining

Beyond greeting and seating guests, the role supports outlet preparation, guest records, service communication and basic administrative activities. Maintaining accurate information, strong product awareness and attentive interaction helps improve guest satisfaction while supporting the restaurant\'s commercial and operational targets.

Key Responsibilities

* Welcome guests professionally and create a positive first impression at the restaurant entrance.
* Coordinate seating arrangements according to table availability, reservations and service conditions.
* Ensure the entrance area remains attended and organized during operating hours.
* Assist with preparing the outlet before service according to meal periods and opening schedules.
* Work closely with the Restaurant Manager, Assistant Manager and service team to maintain efficient front-of-house operations.
* Build courteous and discreet relationships with guests while remaining attentive to individual needs.
* Maintain current knowledge of menus, promotions, outlet activities and relevant hotel information.
* Provide accurate information and direct guest requests to the appropriate team member when required.
* Support waitstaff with table preparation, equipment polishing and other operational tasks during busy periods.
* Coordinate with colleagues to help ensure smooth movement of guests through the dining area.
* Maintain guest-related records, business cards and database information according to outlet procedures.
* Check that required name tags, front-desk materials and administrative items are correctly prepared.
* Assist with POS-related activities when required and ensure relevant billing information is handled accurately.
* Make sure completed bills and documentation are transferred appropriately to the cashier.
* Anticipate guest needs and communicate service requirements promptly to the relevant team.
* Handle minor guest concerns tactfully and escalate unresolved matters to the immediate supervisor.
* Report maintenance, cleanliness or equipment concerns without delay.
* Attend regular training covering guest care, product knowledge, grooming, service standards and up-selling.
* Participate in departmental briefings and maintain clear communication within the team.
* Follow established standards for personal hygiene, grooming and uniform presentation.
* Observe food hygiene, health, safety and fire procedures throughout each shift.
* Remain familiar with departmental manuals, hotel policies and operational standards.
* Work flexibly across different shifts, including evenings and weekends when scheduled.
* Assist other restaurant or hotel areas when operational requirements make additional support necessary.
* Contribute to responsible use of energy and water and support waste-reduction practices within the outlet.
* Help protect the hotel\'s professional image through courteous behaviour, reliability and consistent service delivery.

Ideal Profile

The role requires a college graduate with at least one year of professional experience as a hostess or in a comparable front-of-house hospitality position.

Candidates should have practical experience greeting guests, coordinating seating and working within restaurant or hotel service operations. A good understanding of food and beverage service standards and front-of-house procedures is important.

Confidence using computer systems and point-of-sale software is required. Previous exposure to Micros or similar restaurant technology would be useful for supporting service and administrative activities.

Strong written and spoken English is essential for communicating with international guests and colleagues. The successful candidate should also maintain excellent personal grooming and demonstrate a professional, composed manner during busy service periods.

A sound understanding of hospitality health, safety and hygiene requirements is expected, together with the flexibility to work evenings, weekends and varied shift patterns.
