Role Context
Hotel interiors require regular care because guest rooms, public spaces, furniture and operational areas experience continuous use. The painter will restore and maintain these surfaces while minimizing disruption to guests and hotel activities.
The role sits within Engineering and Facilities and combines technical craftsmanship with Marriott’s guest-service standards. Careful preparation, clean execution and correct storage of tools are essential to maintaining both property appearance and workplace safety.
Key Responsibilities
The painter will complete assigned finishing work from surface preparation through cleanup and final quality inspection.
* Apply paint, stain, varnish and other finishes to property surfaces.
* Work on walls, ceilings, furniture and related hotel assets.
* Use brushes, rollers and spray guns safely and effectively.
* Apply primers and sealers before finish coats.
* Strip or remove worn and damaged surface finishes.
* Prepare surfaces by sanding, wire brushing or other approved methods.
* Use water or abrasive blasting when appropriate and authorized.
* Protect floors, fixtures, furniture and nearby surfaces before starting work.
* Display appropriate warning signs around active painting areas.
* Mix and match coatings according to required colors and specifications.
* Coordinate with vendors when paint, stain or varnish colors require modification.
* Inspect completed surfaces for coverage, consistency and defects.
* Correct imperfections before returning an area to service.
* Clean painting tools and equipment after use.
* Store paints, materials and tools in designated locations.
* Report maintenance defects and safety hazards to the appropriate supervisor.
* Follow hotel safety, security and chemical-handling procedures.
* Complete required safety training and certifications.
* Protect hotel property, equipment and confidential information.
* Maintain a professional appearance and communicate courteously with guests.
* Support colleagues in completing shared maintenance objectives.
* Perform additional reasonable duties assigned by supervisors.
Ideal Profile
The preferred candidate will have practical knowledge of surface preparation and decorative finishing. They should be able to complete work neatly in occupied hospitality environments while respecting safety requirements and guest comfort.
* Technical, trade or vocational school qualification preferred.
* At least 1 year of related painting experience.
* No previous supervisory experience required.
* No license or certification specified.
* Ability to identify suitable primers, paints and finishing materials.
* Experience using brushes, rollers and spray equipment.
* Good color-matching and surface-preparation ability.
* Understanding of safe tool and material storage.
* Clear and professional communication.
* Ability to maintain Marriott’s grooming and service standards.
The position requires prolonged standing, sitting or walking, as well as regular bending, twisting, pulling, stooping and reaching above or below the knees. Candidates must be able to climb ladders, manipulate tools of different sizes and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
