Role Context
Reliable plumbing systems are essential to guest comfort, hygiene and uninterrupted hotel operations. Even a minor leak or blocked drain can affect rooms, restaurants, kitchens, public spaces and back-of-house facilities if it is not resolved promptly.
Working within Engineering and Facilities, the plumber will provide preventive and corrective maintenance throughout the property. The role requires sound technical judgment, careful workmanship and professional interaction with guests and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
The plumber will complete assigned work from inspection and diagnosis through repair, testing and accurate handover.
* Diagnose and repair minor plumbing problems.
* Clear blocked drains and restore normal water flow.
* Assemble pipe sections, tubing and fittings.
* Fill pipes and plumbing fixtures with water or air to locate leaks.
* Review engineering drawings, specifications and applicable building codes.
* Study building plans before arranging new installations.
* Inspect structures to determine suitable pipe routes.
* Measure, cut, thread and bend pipes to the required dimensions.
* Install and maintain pipe assemblies and fittings.
* Repair or replace valves, appliances and plumbing fixtures.
* Test completed work for leaks, pressure and correct operation.
* Carry out miscellaneous minor property repairs.
* Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.
* Keep plumbing tools and materials organized and serviceable.
* Report defects, hazards, accidents and injuries promptly.
* Follow all company safety and security procedures.
* Complete required safety training and certifications.
* Protect hotel assets and confidential information.
* Maintain a clean uniform and professional appearance.
* Communicate clearly and courteously with guests and colleagues.
* Support the Engineering team in meeting property-maintenance standards.
* Perform other reasonable duties assigned by supervisors.
Ideal Profile
The successful candidate will have practical plumbing and pipefitting experience supported by the required professional certification. They should be able to interpret technical information, work safely throughout an occupied hotel and respond professionally to urgent maintenance requests.
* Technical, trade or vocational school qualification preferred.
* At least 2 years of related plumbing experience.
* Valid Plumber Certification required.
* Stationary Engineer or Boiler Operator License required.
* No previous supervisory experience required.
* Ability to read blueprints, specifications and building plans.
* Knowledge of pipe measurement, cutting, threading and bending.
* Understanding of leak detection and pressure testing.
* Familiarity with preventive maintenance procedures.
* Clear professional communication and a guest-focused attitude.
* Ability to work independently and as part of an Engineering team.
The position requires prolonged standing, sitting or walking and regular climbing, bending, twisting, pulling, stooping and reaching. Candidates must be able to manipulate tools and materials of different sizes, move objects weighing up to 75 pounds without assistance and help move objects weighing more than 100 pounds.
