Room cleanliness and readiness directly affect guest satisfaction and the hotel’s ability to manage arrivals efficiently. The Housekeeping Supervisor provides the final quality check after cleaning and ensures that each room’s physical condition matches its status in hotel systems.
The position serves as an operational link between departments. Accurate updates and timely issue resolution help Front Office assign rooms confidently while allowing Housekeeping, Laundry and Engineering teams to coordinate their work effectively.
Key Responsibilities
The supervisor will maintain room-quality standards while helping management organize people, assignments and interdepartmental communication.
* Inspect cleaned guest rooms for quality and presentation.
* Check public areas, pool areas and other assigned hotel spaces.
* Confirm that completed work meets housekeeping standards.
* Run sold-room and room-status reports.
* Identify and investigate discrepant rooms.
* Verify the status of occupied, vacant and departing rooms.
* Prioritize cleaning according to guest arrivals and operational needs.
* Update the status of departing guest rooms.
* Prepare and distribute room assignments.
* Communicate changes in cleaning priorities to employees.
* Coordinate activities across Housekeeping, Engineering, Front Office and Laundry.
* Work with the Front Desk to document and resolve room discrepancies.
* Escalate maintenance defects and safety hazards promptly.
* Communicate unresolved concerns to the next shift.
* Complete required operational paperwork accurately.
* Assist management with employee recruitment and onboarding.
* Support team training, scheduling and performance evaluation.
* Coach and motivate housekeeping employees.
* Help address conduct or performance concerns according to company procedures.

Ideal Profile
The preferred candidate will be detail-oriented, organized and confident coordinating a busy housekeeping shift. They should be able to inspect rooms carefully, guide employees constructively and maintain clear communication with operational departments.
* High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
* At least 1 year of related housekeeping experience.
* Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience.
* No license or certification specified.
* Understanding of hotel room-cleaning and inspection standards.
* Ability to read and reconcile room-status reports.
* Confidence assigning work and adjusting priorities.
* Strong coaching and employee-support skills.
* Professional written and verbal communication.
* Ability to use computers and point-of-sale systems.
* Attention to small details and accurate record-keeping.
* Guest-focused approach and professional appearance.
The role requires standing, sitting, kneeling or walking for extended periods across an entire shift. Candidates must be able to push and pull loaded housekeeping carts over uneven or sloping surfaces and move objects weighing up to 55 pounds without assistance or heavier objects with assistance.
Regular reaching, bending, twisting, pulling and stooping are also required, together with the ability to handle objects of different sizes and visually verify detailed information.
