HVAC Technician - Facilities Maintenance

Working within the Engineering and Facilities operation, the technician must diagnose faults, complete repairs, calibrate controls, and identify opportunities to reduce energy consumption and maintenance costs. Accurate technical work in this role directly supports room comfort, public-area conditions, equipment lifespan, safety compliance, and the hotel\'s overall service standards.

Key Responsibilities

* Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and air quality control equipment.
* Conduct scheduled daily inspections of the mechanical plant and identify developing equipment or system problems.
* Monitor building temperatures and adjust HVAC controls to maintain appropriate conditions throughout the property.
* Review energy and utility consumption and report abnormal usage or operating patterns.
* Calibrate gauges, meters, thermostats, controllers, sensors, and other mechanical or electrical control devices.
* Assemble, install, test, repair, and maintain electrical systems and electronic wiring associated with building services.
* Install and maintain pipe assemblies, valves, fittings, connections, and related plumbing components.
* Diagnose equipment failures and complete corrective maintenance using safe technical procedures.
* Perform preventive maintenance activities to reduce unplanned equipment downtime and extend asset life.
* Maintain routine pool and spa systems in accordance with operating and safety requirements.
* Respond to maintenance requests affecting guest rooms, public areas, engineering spaces, and operational departments.
* Report maintenance defects, safety hazards, accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions through established procedures.
* Recommend practical technical improvements that can increase efficiency, equipment reliability, quality, safety, or cost savings.
* Follow property safety, security, engineering, and maintenance procedures during all technical work.
* Protect tools, equipment, replacement parts, property assets, and confidential operational information.
* Communicate professionally with guests and respond appropriately when maintenance work affects their comfort or experience.
* Coordinate effectively with engineering colleagues and other hotel departments when resolving building-system problems.
* Complete work in confined spaces, elevated areas, plant rooms, service areas, ladders, ramps, and uneven surfaces where required.
* Safely handle, move, lift, carry, push, or position tools, components, and equipment within established physical and safety limits.
* Perform additional engineering and facilities maintenance duties assigned by supervisors.

Ideal Profile

A technical, trade, or vocational school qualification related to HVAC, refrigeration, electrical systems, mechanical maintenance, or building services is preferred.

Candidates should have at least 3 years of relevant hands-on experience maintaining HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical, electrical, or facilities systems.

EPA Universal Certification is required for this position.

A valid driver\'s license is required.

HVAC Certification is also required.
