Reliable climate-control and refrigeration systems are essential to guest comfort, food safety and uninterrupted hotel operations. The HVAC Technician will help maintain stable temperatures and air quality throughout guest rooms, public spaces and operational areas.
The position also supports efficient use of energy and utilities. Accurate equipment calibration, regular plant inspections and timely repairs will help reduce downtime, control operating costs and extend the service life of hotel assets.
Key Responsibilities
The HVAC Technician will complete preventive and corrective maintenance across climate-control, refrigeration and supporting building systems.
* Inspect, diagnose and repair HVAC equipment.
* Maintain refrigeration and air-quality control systems.
* Conduct daily inspections of the mechanical plant.
* Monitor and regulate temperatures throughout the property.
* Review energy and utility consumption.
* Identify unusual usage patterns or inefficient equipment operation.
* Calibrate controls, gauges, meters and related devices.
* Assemble, install and test electrical systems.
* Repair electrical equipment and electronic wiring.
* Install and maintain pipe assemblies, fittings and valves.
* Check equipment for leaks, damage and abnormal operating conditions.
* Perform routine pool and spa maintenance.
* Complete preventive maintenance according to hotel schedules.
* Record inspections, readings, defects and completed repairs.
* Report significant maintenance issues and safety hazards.
* Recommend improvements to efficiency, productivity and quality.
* Help introduce safer or more cost-effective maintenance practices.
* Follow all hotel safety and security procedures.
* Complete required technical and safety training.
* Protect hotel assets and confidential information.
* Maintain a professional appearance and communicate courteously with guests.
* Work cooperatively with Engineering colleagues and other departments.
* Perform additional reasonable duties requested by supervisors.
Ideal Profile
The preferred candidate will have practical HVAC and refrigeration expertise supported by the required technical certifications. They should be capable of working safely around mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems in an occupied luxury-hotel environment.
* Technical, trade or vocational school qualification preferred.
* At least 3 years of related work experience.
* Valid HVAC Certification required.
* EPA Universal Certification required.
* Valid driving license required.
* No previous supervisory experience required.
* Strong understanding of air-conditioning and refrigeration systems.
* Ability to inspect and maintain mechanical-plant equipment.
* Knowledge of control calibration and energy monitoring.
* Basic electrical and electronic-wiring capability.
* Familiarity with pipework, valves, pools and spa systems.
* Clear professional communication and a guest-focused approach.
* Ability to identify and implement maintenance improvements.
The position requires movement through confined or elevated spaces and across sloping, uneven or slippery surfaces. Candidates must be able to climb stairs, service ramps and ladders, reach above and below the knees, and handle tools and equipment of different sizes.
The technician must also be able to move objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance and help move objects weighing more than 100 pounds.
