The Laundry Attendant
supports hotel operations by ensuring that guest linens, restaurant textiles and employee uniforms are cleaned, processed and returned according to established quality standards. Consistent laundry performance contributes directly to room readiness, staff presentation and the overall guest experience.
The position requires careful attention to textile care instructions, machinery condition, chemical safety and production schedules. By maintaining accurate inventories and reporting damaged items or equipment problems promptly, the attendant also helps control replacement costs and reduce operational interruptions.
Key Responsibilities
* Process hotel linens and employee uniforms according to established laundry cycles and textile care requirements.
* Sort laundry items correctly before washing, drying, pressing or further processing.
* Follow approved procedures for different fabrics to protect textile quality and extend usable life.
* Operate laundry machinery safely and according to manufacturer and hotel guidelines.
* Handle detergents, cleaning agents and other chemicals in accordance with health and safety procedures.
* Monitor equipment during operation and report unusual sounds, faults or performance problems promptly.
* Keep laundry machinery, work surfaces and surrounding areas clean and organized throughout each shift.
* Complete daily operational checklists accurately and within required timelines.
* Inspect linens and uniforms for stains, damage, excessive wear or other quality concerns.
* Report damaged textiles to the appropriate supervisor for repair, replacement or further action.
* Follow agreed laundry schedules to ensure clean stock is available when required by hotel departments.
* Maintain accurate logbooks covering processing activities, equipment checks and operational issues.
* Participate in monthly inventories of linens, uniforms and other assigned laundry items.
* Assist in maintaining appropriate stock levels and identifying shortages or abnormal usage.
* Follow hotel procedures for handling and recording lost and found items discovered during laundry processing.
* Ensure laundry materials and processed items are stored in designated areas to prevent contamination or damage.
* Use water, energy and cleaning products responsibly during daily operations.
* Cooperate with Housekeeping and other hotel departments when urgent linen or uniform requirements arise.
* Maintain professional hygiene, grooming and workplace conduct at all times.
* Follow fire, health, safety and environmental procedures while performing laundry duties.
* Complete additional laundry responsibilities assigned by supervisors according to operational requirements.
