Role Context
Hotel loss prevention protects people and assets while preserving the welcoming atmosphere expected by guests. The officer must remain alert to potential risks without allowing security procedures to disrupt courteous and thoughtful hospitality.
The role requires movement throughout public, operational and restricted areas of the property. During emergencies or disturbances, the officer will provide an immediate response, communicate with the appropriate teams and document events accurately and confidentially.
Key Responsibilities
The Loss Prevention Officer will combine preventive patrols with guest assistance, incident response and security documentation.
* Conduct key-control audits and monitor electronic key boxes.
* Issue and receive master keys, radios and beepers.
* Maintain secure custody and accurate records of controlled equipment.
* Patrol guest, public, operational and restricted property areas.
* Assist authorized guests who require access to their rooms.
* Monitor closed-circuit television feeds and alarm systems.
* Respond promptly to accidents, emergencies and safety concerns.
* Contact emergency medical services when required.
* Administer first aid or CPR within the limits of training.
* Support guests and employees during emergency situations.
* Notify appropriate personnel about accidents, attacks or serious incidents.
* Defuse guest or employee disturbances calmly and professionally.
* Request support from external authorities when necessary.
* Escort unauthorized or unwelcome individuals from the property.
* Attend scenes involving vehicle accidents or theft.
* Use the correct communication codes when requesting assistance.
* Identify safety hazards and coordinate timely corrective action.
* Prepare complete security and loss-prevention incident reports.
* Produce shift summaries and daily activity reports.
* Protect confidential reports and release information only to authorized individuals.
* Prepare documentation for employees requiring external medical treatment.
* Type, proofread and reproduce security documents accurately.
* Assist management with employee training and motivation.
* Assign work tasks when requested and monitor timely completion.
* Report injuries, accidents and unsafe conditions to management.

Ideal Profile
The preferred candidate will remain composed during emergencies, communicate respectfully and understand that effective hotel security includes excellent guest service. No previous security or supervisory experience is required.
* High school diploma or equivalent.

The position requires extended periods of standing, sitting or walking. The officer must be able to run, walk or jog when responding to an incident; navigate stairs, ramps, confined spaces and uneven surfaces; and bend, twist, pull, reach and stoop as needed.
Candidates must be able to move objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance and heavier objects weighing more than 75 pounds with assistance. Additional local licensing or registration requirements may apply if required by law.
