Role Context
The Maintenance Technician - Guestroom Repairs helps maintain a reliable and comfortable hotel environment by resolving repair issues quickly, supporting preventive maintenance routines, and ensuring equipment, rooms, and public areas remain guest-ready. In a busy Dubai hotel setting, this position contributes to guest satisfaction, safety compliance, property care, and smooth engineering handovers by combining practical maintenance skills with professional communication and strong attention to service standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Attend to guest repair requests and communicate clearly with guests or customers to help resolve maintenance concerns.
* Perform preventive maintenance on tools, kitchen equipment, mechanical room equipment, and assigned hotel systems, including cleaning and lubrication.
* Visually inspect tools, machines, equipment, rooms, and work areas to identify faults, safety risks, wear, or repair needs.
* Carry tools, radios, supplies, parts, and maintenance equipment safely while completing daily assigned tasks.
* Locate, identify, and operate equipment shut-off valves and building utility shut-offs when required.
* Maintain maintenance inventory and request parts, supplies, and materials needed for repairs and routine engineering work.
* Share daily activities, open issues, completed repairs, and shift concerns through approved communication programs and standards.
* Support general building maintenance across air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, controls, carpentry, finishing, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and related hotel systems.
* Complete surface preparation, painting, minor drywall repair, wood trim repair, and full cleanup of painting or repair areas.
* Replace light bulbs, air conditioning filters, minor fixtures, electrical switches, outlets, lamps, extension cords, cosmetic items, and other guestroom items.
* Test, troubleshoot, and perform basic repairs on equipment, plumbing defects, blocked drains, toilets, electrical components, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, and similar hotel assets.
* Program televisions and support general housekeeping-related and engineering-related inventory duties.
* Use Lockout and Tagout procedures before carrying out maintenance work on equipment or systems.
* Repair or assist with interior landscaping, exterior landscaping, and external sprinkler systems when assigned.
* Use basic computer skills to enter work information, update air handler schedules, and make temperature changes.
* Follow company policies, safety procedures, security standards, quality expectations, and required maintenance protocols.
* Report maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, injuries, unsafe conditions, and equipment concerns to the appropriate manager.
* Complete required safety training and certifications while properly storing flammable materials.
* Maintain a clean uniform, professional appearance, confidentiality, and responsible care of company assets.
* Welcome and acknowledge guests according to service standards, anticipate guest needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and communicate with genuine professionalism.
* Develop positive working relationships with colleagues and support the engineering team in reaching shared maintenance goals.
* Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance, with support for heavier movement tasks.
* Move up and down stairs, service ramps, and ladders while bending, twisting, pulling, stooping, reaching overhead, and working below knee level.
* Enter and locate work-related information using computers and approved hotel systems.
* Complete other reasonable maintenance and engineering duties requested by supervisors.
Ideal Profile
* High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is preferred.
* Some experience in general maintenance, interior surface preparation, exterior surface preparation, painting, or basic facilities repair is required.
* Previous hotel engineering, hotel maintenance, resort maintenance, or hospitality facilities experience is an advantage.
* Basic knowledge or ability to learn air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical work, mechanical repairs, plumbing, electronic controls, pneumatic systems, carpentry, kitchen equipment, and general building maintenance.
* Ability to handle minor guestroom repairs, plumbing blockages, cosmetic repairs, light electrical replacements, painting work, and equipment checks.
* Comfortable using tools, radios, maintenance supplies, basic computer systems, and inventory communication processes.
* Understanding of safe work practices, Lockout and Tagout requirements, flammable material storage, and maintenance reporting procedures.
* Professional guest service attitude with clear communication, confidentiality, respect, and willingness to assist guests and colleagues.
* Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, use stairs and service ramps, bend, twist, reach, walk, and stand for extended periods.
* No supervisory experience is required.
* Valid Driver’s License is required.
* Able to work full-time at King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street, Dubai Marina, Dubai.
