Hotel maintenance teams protect guest comfort by responding quickly to defects and keeping property systems in dependable condition. Even minor problems involving lighting, plumbing, air conditioning or room equipment can affect the guest experience if they are not resolved promptly.
This position provides broad hands-on support rather than focusing on a single engineering discipline. The technician will complete basic repairs, maintain tools and equipment, and communicate outstanding issues clearly between shifts.
Key Responsibilities
The Maintenance Technician will attend guest requests and support preventive maintenance throughout the property.
* Respond promptly to guest repair and maintenance requests.
* Communicate professionally with guests while resolving technical issues.
* Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.
* Clean and lubricate kitchen and mechanical-room equipment.
* Visually inspect tools, machines and building assets.
* Carry and maintain required tools and communication equipment.
* Locate and operate equipment shut-off valves.
* Identify utility shut-offs serving the building.
* Maintain engineering inventory and request parts or supplies.
* Record daily work and communicate unresolved issues to the next shift.
* Support basic air-conditioning and refrigeration maintenance.
* Assist with electrical, mechanical and plumbing repairs.
* Work with pneumatic and electronic controls when trained.
* Complete minor carpentry and wood-trim repairs.
* Prepare and paint interior or exterior surfaces.
* Repair minor drywall damage.
* Replace light bulbs and air-conditioning filters.
* Clean work areas thoroughly after completing repairs.
* Clear blocked toilets and drains.
* Troubleshoot lamps, extension cords and electrical components.
* Replace switches and outlets when qualified and authorized.
* Repair cosmetic defects and guest-room items.
* Test vacuum cleaners, internet devices and similar equipment.
* Program guest-room televisions.
* Support engineering and housekeeping inventory duties.
* Use Lockout and Tagout controls before maintenance work.
* Repair exterior landscaping features and sprinkler systems.
* Enter air-handler schedules and temperature changes using computers.
* Store flammable materials according to safety requirements.
* Report defects, hazards, accidents and injuries.
* Perform additional reasonable duties requested by supervisors.
Ideal Profile
The preferred candidate will have practical general-maintenance ability and an interest in developing knowledge across several hotel-engineering disciplines. They should be comfortable working in guest areas and able to explain repair activity clearly and courteously.
* High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
* Some experience in general maintenance.
* Experience with interior and exterior surface preparation and painting.
* Previous hotel engineering or maintenance experience is advantageous.
* Valid driving license required.
* No previous supervisory experience required.
* Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical or plumbing systems.
* Willingness to learn air conditioning, refrigeration and building controls.
* Basic computer skills.
* Ability to use hand tools safely.
* Professional communication and guest-service awareness.
* Ability to maintain accurate shift and inventory information.
The position requires climbing stairs, service ramps and ladders, as well as regular bending, twisting, pulling, stooping and reaching. Candidates must be able to move objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance and complete heavier tasks with appropriate help.
