Role Context
The Maintenance Technician - Hotel Facilities helps protect guest comfort and hotel operations by completing repair requests, preventive maintenance tasks, inspections, troubleshooting, and basic equipment care across guest rooms, service areas, mechanical rooms, kitchens, public spaces, and exterior zones. In a premium Dubai hotel setting, this position plays an important operational role by responding quickly to maintenance issues, reducing downtime, supporting safety standards, and ensuring that all repaired areas are cleaned and ready for guest use.
Key Responsibilities
* Respond to guest repair requests and communicate professionally with guests or customers to resolve maintenance concerns.
* Perform preventive maintenance on tools, kitchen equipment, mechanical room equipment, and building systems, including cleaning and lubrication.
* Visually inspect tools, equipment, machines, rooms, and work areas to identify repair needs, safety risks, or performance issues.
* Carry and use maintenance equipment such as tools, radios, parts, and supplies during daily assignments.
* Identify, locate, and operate shut-off valves for equipment and utility shut-offs for hotel buildings when required.
* Maintain maintenance inventory and request parts, supplies, tools, and materials needed for repair or preventive work.
* Communicate daily activities, open issues, and shift problems through approved communication programs and handover standards.
* Support general building maintenance across air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic and electronic controls, carpentry, finishing, kitchen equipment, vehicles, and energy conservation tasks.
* Complete surface preparation, painting, minor drywall repair, wood trim repair, and cleanup of painting or repair areas.
* Replace light bulbs, air conditioning filters, minor fixtures, cosmetic items, electrical switches, outlets, extension cords, lamps, vacuum cleaner parts, and guestroom items when needed.
* Test, troubleshoot, and complete basic repairs on plumbing systems, including plunging toilets and unclogging drains.
* Program televisions and assist with basic internet device checks and other guestroom technology-related maintenance duties.
* Use Lockout and Tagout procedures before performing maintenance work on equipment or systems.
* Repair or support interior landscaping, exterior landscaping, and external sprinkler systems when assigned.
* Enter work-related information using computers and complete basic system updates such as air handler schedules and temperature changes.
* Store flammable materials safely and follow required safety, security, and maintenance procedures.
* Report maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, injuries, unsafe conditions, and equipment concerns to the appropriate manager.
* Welcome and acknowledge guests according to company standards while anticipating service needs and assisting individuals with disabilities.
* Maintain professional uniform, personal appearance, confidentiality, and protection of company assets.
* Build positive working relationships with colleagues and support the engineering team in reaching shared operational goals.
* Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects up to 50 pounds without assistance and complete heavier movement tasks with assistance.
* Move up and down stairs, service ramps, and ladders while reaching, bending, twisting, pulling, stooping, and completing active repair tasks.
* Perform other reasonable maintenance and engineering duties requested by supervisors.
Ideal Profile
* High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is preferred.
* Some experience in general maintenance, interior and exterior surface preparation, painting, minor repairs, or facilities support is required.
* Previous hotel engineering, hotel maintenance, resort facilities, or hospitality technical services experience is an advantage.
* Basic knowledge or willingness to learn air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, kitchen equipment, controls, and building systems.
* Ability to troubleshoot simple equipment issues, guestroom defects, plumbing blockages, cosmetic repairs, and basic electrical or fixture concerns.
* Comfortable using hand tools, maintenance equipment, radios, computers, inventory records, and approved communication systems.
* Understanding of workplace safety, Lockout and Tagout procedures, safe chemical storage, and maintenance reporting standards.
* Professional guest service attitude with clear communication, confidentiality, and respect for hotel service expectations.
* Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, use service ramps, bend, twist, reach, walk, and stand for extended periods.
* No supervisory experience is required.
* Valid Driver’s License is required.
* Able to work full-time at King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street, Dubai Marina, Dubai.
