About the Role
As a Marine Educator, you will actively engage with aquarium visitors and transform marine life encounters into informative and memorable guest experiences.
You will deliver formal and informal educational activities for groups of different sizes, share
accurate information about marine species and conservation, and continually develop your knowledge and presentation skills through training, research and assessment.
Marine Education and Guest Engagement
* Approach and interact with guests throughout the aquarium.
* Share information about marine life and aquarium theming in an engaging and professional manner.
* Deliver conservation education programs according to operational requirements.
* Facilitate marine animal activities for small and large groups.
* Explain marine animal species, aquarium systems and animal care concepts.
* Communicate conservation threats and actions in an accessible way.
* Encourage positive guest awareness of ocean conservation.
* Adapt presentations and interactions to different audiences and group sizes.
Knowledge and Presentation Development
* Use available learning resources to build detailed marine life knowledge.
* Conduct research to strengthen product knowledge and educational presentations.
* Develop public speaking and presentation capabilities through regular practice.
* Participate in frequent training and assessment activities.
* Apply constructive feedback to improve educational delivery.
* Maintain ongoing personal and professional development.
* Keep current with company facilities, events and related guest services.
Guest Feedback and Service Standards
You will facilitate guest surveys and gather feedback about the aquarium experience, helping the team understand how effectively its conservation message is reaching visitors.
The role also contributes to departmental quality assurance targets by delivering consistently high service standards and creating meaningful guest interactions.
Animal Welfare and Operational Standards
* Maintain a clean and safe environment for aquarium guests.
* Follow established animal welfare practices.
* Comply with departmental Standard Operating Procedures and manuals.
* Attend required meetings and training sessions.
* Support other reasonable divisional duties when requested by management.
About You
An engaging and outgoing personality is important for this position, together with strong interpersonal and guest service skills. You should be comfortable speaking publicly and communicating information clearly and enthusiastically.
The ability to learn and retain information about marine life and conservation is essential. A qualification or certificate in hospitality, biology, teaching or an equivalent discipline is desirable.
Basic computer skills are required. Candidates must also be able to speak clearly, read and write in English.
