The Senior Technician - Hotel Engineering keeps hotel operations running safely and smoothly by repairing critical building systems, completing preventive maintenance, handling guestroom technical issues, and supporting the reliability of physical property assets. In a premium Dubai hotel environment, this role helps reduce equipment downtime, protect guest comfort, maintain safety compliance, support energy efficiency, and guide other engineering team members when required. The position requires a confident technician who can read schematics, perform Engineer on Duty rounds, and make sound repair decisions under operational pressure.
Key Responsibilities
* Respond to guest repair requests and resolve technical issues professionally with little or no supervision.
* Communicate with guests, customers, supervisors, and colleagues to explain maintenance concerns, repair progress, and service completion.
* Perform preventive maintenance on tools, equipment, guestroom systems, mechanical assets, kitchen equipment, and building infrastructure.
* Clean, lubricate, inspect, and test equipment to support safe operation and reduce unexpected breakdowns.
* Visually inspect tools, machines, utility systems, and work areas to detect faults, safety risks, wear, leaks, or performance problems.
* Carry tools, radios, parts, equipment, and maintenance materials safely during daily engineering work.
* Identify, locate, and operate shut-off valves for hotel equipment and utility systems when repairs or emergencies require isolation.
* Maintain maintenance inventory and request parts, materials, and supplies required for repairs, preventive tasks, and operational readiness.
* Ensure each day’s engineering activities, pending concerns, and shift issues are communicated using approved programs and handover standards.
* Read standard blueprints and electrical schematics related to plumbing, HVAC, building systems, and repair planning.
* Apply above-average engineering operations skills and strong mechanical ability to diagnose and repair hotel systems.
* Demonstrate strong proficiency in multiple maintenance categories such as air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, controls, carpentry, kitchen equipment, energy conservation, and building management.
* Use hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and repair materials safely and correctly during maintenance assignments.
* Complete complex repairs on the physical property, electrical systems, plumbing systems, mechanical equipment, air conditioning units, refrigeration equipment, and pool heaters.
* Ensure repair methods, materials, workmanship, and safety practices meet company standards and applicable local and national codes.
* Troubleshoot and repair pumps, motors, toilets, blocked drains, plumbing lines, lamps, HVAC equipment, cosmetic items, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, switches, outlets, televisions, and guestroom assets.
* Use Lockout and Tagout procedures before performing maintenance work on equipment, energized systems, or machinery.
* Operate engineering computer programs for preventive maintenance, energy management, connected devices, and other hotel systems.
* Carry out advanced troubleshooting of hotel Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems.
* Perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities, including rounds, readings, system checks, and timely reporting of abnormal conditions.
* Train and mentor other engineers when needed to support safe work methods, technical learning, and team performance.
* Report maintenance problems, hazards, accidents, injuries, unsafe work conditions, equipment faults, and operational risks to management.
* Complete required safety training and certifications while storing flammable materials correctly.
* Maintain a clean uniform, professional appearance, confidentiality, and proper protection of company assets.
* Welcome and acknowledge guests according to service standards, anticipate guest needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and show genuine appreciation.
* Build positive working relationships with team members and support common engineering and hotel service goals.
* Enter, update, and locate work-related information using computers and approved hotel engineering systems.
* Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance, with support for heavier tasks.
* Move safely across stairs, service ramps, and ladders while bending, twisting, pulling, stooping, reaching overhead, and working below knee level.
* Perform other reasonable engineering, facilities, and maintenance duties requested by supervisors.
Ideal Profile
* High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent with vocational or technical background is preferred.
* Extensive training and experience in general maintenance, electrical work, refrigeration, parts inventory, requisition handling, surface preparation, and painting.
* At least 2 years of hotel engineering or hotel maintenance experience is required.
* Strong working knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration, electrical systems, plumbing, mechanical equipment, MEP troubleshooting, and general building maintenance.
* Ability to complete advanced repairs independently while maintaining safety, quality, guest service standards, and code compliance.
* Skilled in reading blueprints, electrical schematics, plumbing references, HVAC layouts, and basic engineering documentation.
* Good knowledge of preventive maintenance programs, energy management systems, engineering software, and connected building devices.
* Safe and confident user of hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, maintenance materials, and workshop supplies.
* Able to troubleshoot pumps, motors, pool heaters, refrigeration units, air conditioners, electrical components, plumbing issues, and guestroom technical faults.
* Comfortable mentoring other engineering team members and supporting Engineer on Duty responsibilities.
* Professional communication style with a guest-focused attitude, strong teamwork, confidentiality, and respect for hotel service standards.
* No supervisory experience is required.
* Valid Driver’s License is required.
* Universal Chlorofluorocarbon Certification is required.
* Must meet applicable state and federal certification or licensing requirements.
* Able to work full-time at Palm West Beach, Palm Jumeirah Road, Dubai.
