Application Support Engineer – Airport Operational Systems – Doha, QatarRole Summary
Qatar Airways is seeking an experienced Application Support Engineer to maintain and support critical IT systems, including Airport Operational Systems. This role involves requirements gathering, solution design, architecture review, testing, quality assurance, and vendor coordination to ensure system security, availability, and optimal performance. You will work within ITIL and ISO 20000/ISO 27001 frameworks, documenting and improving processes while supporting both in-house and third-party applications.

What You’ll Do
* Collaborate with business teams to assess needs and identify technology solutions for airport stakeholders
* Gather and document business objectives, functional specifications, requirements, data models, and technical architecture
* Prepare functional, non-functional, cybersecurity, and
technical specifications for COTS systems from external suppliers
* Work with solution architects to design optimal technical architectures to meet business needs
* Perform root cause analysis of operational incidents and manage changes per established processes
* Liaise with third-party vendors for preventive maintenance and fault resolution in line with SLAs
* Participate in testing, training, and implementation phases of projects while ensuring compliance with policies and standards
* Maintain high-quality documentation to support quality assurance, testing, and operations
* Allocate work to junior project staff and conduct quality assurance checks
* Manage delivery of subprojects or small systems, meeting targets for quality, cost, and timelines
* Ensure adherence to IT policies, ISO 27001, and ISO 20000 standards for MATAR IT Services
* Identify opportunities to improve operations and develop innovative solutions
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with at least 3 years of relevant experience
* Strong understanding of SDLC, system design principles, coding standards, and software maintenance
* Experience managing software implementation and support in an enterprise environment
* Knowledge of programming languages, data modeling, and development tools
* Familiarity with aviation/airport systems, processes, and data
* Proficiency in client-server, web development methodologies, N-tier architecture, and databases
* Experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies
* Strong business analysis, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills
