Big Data Engineer - Hadoop and Distributed Systems
Role Summary
We are looking for an experienced Big Data Engineer to join our team in Dubai, with a focus on Hadoop stack technologies, distributed systems, and performance-tuned data solutions. This role demands strong technical expertise in MapReduce, Hive, Spark, and NoSQL systems, along with proven experience in managing backend data teams and delivering enterprise-level analytics. Candidates with experience in financial services and Azure cloud platforms will be given preference.

Key Responsibilities
* Lead the design and implementation of distributed data processing solutions using Hadoop, Spark, Hive, Pig, and related technologies
* Write, tune, and deploy efficient Java and MapReduce jobs for large-scale data processing
* Manage and mentor a team of data engineers and third-party contributors
* Develop dimensional data models to support efficient querying and business intelligence use cases
* Create and optimize complex SQL and NoSQL queries across Cassandra, Postgres, and HBase
* Coordinate with business intelligence teams and stakeholders to prioritize high-impact projects
* Oversee real-time data streaming applications using tools such as Spark Streaming and Storm
* Ensure accuracy and integrity of source data, audit model performance, and optimize processing workflows
* Implement best practices for scalable, secure, and high-performance data architecture
* Collaborate on cloud migration and integration projects, particularly with Azure cloud platforms
Candidate Requirements
* Minimum 10 years of experience in big data engineering or distributed systems development
* Deep expertise in the Hadoop ecosystem including HDFS, Hive, Pig, Sqoop, Flume, and MapReduce
* Hands-on experience with object-oriented and scripting languages including Java, Python, Scala, and R
* Strong knowledge of SQL tuning, performance optimization, and stream-processing architectures
* Experience in building secure and scalable data pipelines and monitoring frameworks
* Familiarity with BI dashboard development and team delivery management
* Exposure to data science tools, machine learning models, or financial data workflows is a plus
* Ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative, high-growth environment
