Role Context
The Secondary Biology Teacher will plan, deliver, assess, and improve Biology instruction across assigned secondary classes. The position
The successful candidate will contribute to curriculum planning, student progress monitoring, laboratory safety, assessment, academic intervention, and collaborative school improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver Biology lessons aligned with British curriculum requirements.
* Prepare schemes of work, daily lesson plans, assessments, presentations, and practical activities.
* Teach biological concepts including cell biology, genetics, ecology, human physiology, reproduction, and evolution.
* Use experiments, demonstrations, models, digital tools, and scientific investigations to support learning.
* Develop students\' scientific reasoning, observation, analysis, and problem-solving skills.
* Monitor student attainment and identify learning gaps requiring targeted support.
* Assess classwork, homework, laboratory reports, projects, tests, and examinations.
* Provide clear and constructive feedback that supports measurable academic improvement.
* Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessment, progress, and intervention.
* Apply differentiated teaching strategies for students with varied learning needs.
* Establish positive classroom routines and manage student behaviour effectively.
* Ensure all practical lessons comply with laboratory safety procedures.
* Collaborate with science teachers, laboratory staff, coordinators, and school leaders.
* Participate in assessment moderation, departmental meetings, curriculum reviews, and professional development.
* Communicate professionally with parents regarding student progress where required.
* Support science clubs, exhibitions, competitions, and enrichment activities.
* Follow school safeguarding, inclusion, health and safety, and professional conduct policies.
Ideal Profile
* Master\'s degree in Biology or a closely related scientific discipline.
* Bachelor of Education qualification is required.
* Previous experience teaching Biology at secondary level is preferred.
* Experience in a British curriculum school is advantageous.
* Strong knowledge of Biology curriculum content and assessment practices.
* Ability to deliver both theory and practical lessons effectively.
* Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
* Strong classroom management and student engagement abilities.
* Good organizational, planning, and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to analyse student data and provide suitable academic intervention.
* Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, laboratory safety, and academic excellence.
