What Does a Social Media Manager Do in a Startup?
As a Social Media Manager, you will play a critical role in building and managing ROPTIA\'s online community. You will be responsible for content planning, engagement strategy, and platform growth, helping shape the startup’s voice across multiple digital platforms while collaborating closely with marketing, product, and customer success teams.
What Are the Key Responsibilities?
- Design and implement tailored social media strategies for both B2B and B2C audiences
- Manage content calendars and consistently post engaging content across platforms including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube
- Interact with followers, build meaningful relationships, and respond to community inquiries
- Drive growth in followers, engagement, and reach across all channels
- Identify and connect with brand advocates, influencers, and niche communities
- Collaborate on or design visual assets such as graphics, videos, and campaign creatives
- Monitor trends, brand mentions, and sentiment using social listening tools
- Report performance metrics regularly and optimize content strategy based on insights
- Support campaign launches and digital initiatives alongside the paid media team
What Skills Are Needed for a Part-Time Social Media Role?
Experience:
- 6+ years of experience managing social media or online communities
- At least 2 years of team leadership experience in a digital or startup environment
Skills:
- Proficiency in managing platforms like LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube
- Strong writing skills with a creative mindset and storytelling ability
- Experience with tools like Hootsuite, Buffer, or Sprout Social
- Graphic design familiarity (Canva, Adobe Suite) is a plus
- Ability to work independently and contribute in a fast-paced, remote-first culture
- Empathetic communicator who thrives in community engagement and conflict resolution
What Is the Compensation Model?
- No fixed salary – team members will be rewarded with company equity shares
- A minimum commitment of 2.5 hours per day is expected
- Shares will be allocated in the funding round closing after 31 December 2025, with equity valued at £10/hour contributed
- Liquidation of shares will occur during the next funding round, projected for 2026
