Core Duties
* Design and implement robust data pipelines to extract, transform, and load data into Vertica using ETL tools such as SAP BODS and Informatica.
* Migrate data from Oracle, SQL Server, and SQLite to Vertica within defined project timelines.
* Develop and maintain data models and database structures optimized for analytics and high-performance queries.
* Write functions and procedures to prepare business-driven datasets.
* Support data scientists and analysts with scalable data solutions for reporting and analytics.
* Implement data quality checks and ensure validation processes are in place.
* Leverage VerticaPy for machine learning use cases in data science.
* Collaborate with DevOps teams for deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of Vertica environments.
* Conduct performance tuning, indexing, and partitioning to optimize query execution.
* Troubleshoot database performance issues and ensure system health monitoring.
* Define and enforce best practices in data governance and Vertica usage.
* Prepare documentation, data flows, and technical specifications.
* Train end-users to effectively navigate Power BI reports and insights.
Candidate Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
* Proven experience as a Data Engineer with hands-on expertise in Vertica database systems.
* Strong SQL skills, data modeling, and schema design experience.
* Proficiency in ETL processes and tools with direct experience integrating data into Vertica.
* Experience migrating data from Oracle and SQL Server to Vertica.
* Knowledge of big data tools (Hadoop, Spark) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) is an advantage.
* Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and best practices.
* Experience with Vertica performance tuning and optimization techniques.
* Familiarity with Linux environments and shell scripting.
* Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to handle large datasets efficiently.
