FIELD OPERATOR, AMMONIA – QAFCO

Location: Mesaieed, Qatar | Contract Type: Indefinite

Job Summary:

QAFCO seeks a skilled Field Operator for our Ammonia plant. This role involves operating and monitoring field equipment, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to safety and environmental standards. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver dedicated to safety and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

* Operate and monitor field equipment; make informed decisions to start/stop equipment.
* Accurately log operating parameters; promptly report irregularities.
* Participate in relevant training or demonstrate equivalent experience.
* Develop a thorough understanding of operational procedures through on-the-job training.
* Provide immediate first response in emergencies; minimize potential damage.
* Mentor and train new/trainee operators.
* Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.


Qualifications:

* High School Diploma or equivalent + 2-year Diploma in a relevant field (e.g., process technology, chemical engineering).
* Minimum 5 years\' experience in the Fertilizer, Petrochemical, Chemical, or Oil & Gas industries.
* Essential Process Knowledge:
* Deep understanding of ammonia production processes (synthesis, recovery, steam reforming, CO2/H2S removal, etc.).
* Experience with natural gas compressors, steam turbines, and auxiliary systems.
* Knowledge of closed cooling water systems, nitrogen plants, and boiler feed water systems.
* Familiarity with desalination and condensate return systems.
* Proven ability to handle emergencies; safely shut down/start up systems.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
* Proficient in using firefighting equipment and understanding Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems.
