Role Context
The Assistant Manager is responsible for ensuring talabat\'s bicycle and electric vehicle fleet operates efficiently while maintaining strong operational discipline across tMart locations. The position combines strategic fleet planning with direct field execution, requiring regular site presence, performance monitoring, compliance management, and decisive action when operational standards are not being met.
The role also focuses on improving how operations scale. By analyzing recurring issues, refining SOPs, introducing automation, and coordinating with Performance, 3PL, and Rider Lifecycle teams, the Assistant Manager helps reduce manual dependencies and build more reliable operational systems.
Key Responsibilities
* Own operational performance across bicycle and electric vehicle fleet activities.
* Develop and refine the fleet strategy according to demand, rider requirements, operating cost, and performance trends.
* Optimize the mix between bicycles and EVs to improve operational efficiency and asset utilization.
* Build the fleet roadmap in collaboration with relevant operational and commercial stakeholders.
* Monitor fleet KPIs and identify trends, inefficiencies, risks, and emerging operational gaps.
* Translate operational data into structured updates and practical recommendations for leadership.
* Prepare clear performance summaries covering fleet utilization, availability, compliance, and operational issues.
* Maintain regular field presence across tMart locations to verify execution standards.
* Monitor rider attendance and ensure expected staffing and operational coverage are maintained.
* Confirm riders follow established tMart operating procedures and required protocols.
* Apply consistent enforcement when operational standards or compliance requirements are breached.
* Develop structured corrective action plans for repeated or significant violations.
* Identify root causes behind recurring fleet, rider, and tMart operational challenges.
* Design long-term solutions rather than relying solely on short-term operational fixes.
* Review and continuously improve SOPs based on operational feedback and changing business requirements.
* Reduce unnecessary manual work by introducing workflow automation and system improvements.
* Identify processes that can be simplified, standardized, or automated to improve reliability.
* Work closely with Performance teams to understand operational gaps and prioritize corrective actions.
* Coordinate with 3PL partners on fleet, rider, or execution-related requirements.
* Partner with Rider Lifecycle teams to resolve systemic issues affecting rider readiness and operational continuity.
* Align cross-functional stakeholders around shared priorities, ownership, and delivery timelines.
* Escalate material risks or unresolved issues when broader intervention is required.
* Build and develop a high-performing operations team with clear roles and expectations.
* Establish a culture of accountability where team members take ownership of operational outcomes.
* Set performance expectations and follow up consistently on agreed actions.
* Support team members with coaching, guidance, and practical problem-solving.
* Maintain clear communication across city-level operations to reduce execution gaps.
* Make independent decisions in the field when immediate operational judgement is required.
* Use data and direct observation together when evaluating operational performance.
* Apply AI tools where appropriate to improve reporting, analysis, documentation, and operational productivity.
* Use tools such as Claude to support structured analysis, process improvement, and workflow efficiency where relevant.
Ideal Profile

Applicants should have approximately 3-5 years of professional operations experience, ideally within last-mile delivery, e-commerce, mobility technology, logistics, or another high-volume operational environment.
Previous experience managing on-ground teams is important because this position requires direct field leadership and regular operational presence.
Candidates should have demonstrated experience coordinating across functions and resolving issues that involve several stakeholders or operational owners.
Strong analytical thinking is required, with the ability to interpret performance data and convert findings into clear operational decisions.
The successful candidate should communicate in a structured manner across frontline teams, peers, and senior stakeholders.
