Role Context
The Government Relations Manager will act as a key representative for talabat in dealings with UAE government authorities. The role covers licensing, renewals, official documentation, compliance tracking, violation management, authority meetings, government correspondence, and regulatory coordination with legal, operations, procurement, marketing, and leadership teams.
This position requires deep knowledge of UAE government processes and the ability to build trusted relationships with entities such as DED, Municipality, Ministry of Commerce, MOH, Ministry of Interior, Consumer Protection Authority, civil defense bodies, chambers of commerce, and other relevant authorities. The successful candidate will help the business operate confidently in a regulated environment while supporting expansion, driver operations, customs coordination, campaign approvals, and official documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary point of contact between talabat and key UAE government authorities, including DED, Municipality, Ministry of Commerce, MOH, Ministry of Interior, and Consumer Protection Authority.
Build and maintain professional relationships with government officials, public authority representatives, and regulatory stakeholders.
Represent the company in government meetings, official hearings, and Ministry of Interior matters related to driver operations.
Own the full licensing process for new branches, new activities, commercial registry updates, municipal clearances, and civil defense approvals.
Manage renewal cycles for trade licences, chamber of commerce registrations, health certificates, official permits, and required government documents.
Maintain a complete compliance calendar covering active licences, expiry dates, renewal deadlines, pending approvals, and open government matters.
Track, escalate, and resolve violations from traffic, municipality, food safety, and other relevant authorities before they affect operations.
Keep legal and operational teams updated on procedural changes, regulatory developments, and authority requirements that may impact business activity.
Coordinate with marketing teams on campaign licensing requirements, promotional approvals, and official permissions.
Support procurement and supply chain teams with customs clearance coordination and related government documentation.
Process contract attestations through the Ministry of Justice, embassies, and other official entities as required.
Handle CSR initiative approvals, trademark registration support, trademark renewals, and correspondence related to official business matters.
Manage authority inquiries involving driver information, customer information, and operational clarification requests in coordination with internal teams.
Identify improvements in licensing workflows, UAE digital government platform usage, escalation processes, and cross-functional coordination.
Support faster and smoother licensing for new locations by clearing procedural blockers and maintaining strong authority communication.
Act as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders on government relations, compliance risk, authority requirements, and practical resolution routes.
Ideal Profile
The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of experience in government relations, public affairs, regulatory compliance, licensing, or a related UAE-based role.
Strong working knowledge of UAE government bodies is required, especially DED, Municipality, MOH, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Interior, civil defense, chambers of commerce, and other authorities involved in business licensing and compliance.
The candidate should have proven experience managing multi-authority compliance matters, licence renewals, official documentation, regulatory follow-ups, and government violations.
Existing relationships with UAE government officials and practical experience navigating bureaucratic processes will be highly valuable.
Fluency in Arabic and English is required for drafting correspondence, attending hearings, managing official communication, and building authority relationships.
Experience in technology, logistics, delivery, Q-commerce, retail, or marketplace businesses will be an advantage.
Familiarity with UAE e-government platforms, branch licence setup across multiple Emirates, customs-related procedures, trademark processes, and contract attestations will strengthen the profile.
A bachelor’s degree in Law, Public Administration, Political Science, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
