Role Context
The Associate Corporate Counsel - Real Estate will provide end-to-end legal support for Amazon\'s rapidly expanding quick commerce and operational property portfolio. The role will work closely with Quick Commerce, Real Estate, Operations, Construction, Finance, Tax, Compliance, and external legal advisers.
The counsel will manage urgent site transactions alongside longer-term logistics and development projects. Legal support will extend from site selection and commercial negotiation through construction, launch readiness, operational compliance, dispute management, renewal, and termination.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead legal support for quick commerce site acquisition and expansion across regional markets.
* Draft, review, and negotiate leases for dark stores, micro-fulfillment sites, delivery hubs, and other operational facilities.
* Negotiate third-party services agreements supporting site development, operation, and launch.
* Manage high-volume property acquisition pipelines involving compressed deadlines and non-standard commercial structures.
* Develop practical legal solutions when business requirements, site models, or deal structures change.
* Draft and negotiate broader real estate agreements, including commercial leases, purchase contracts, development agreements, and build-to-suit arrangements.
* Advise on construction contracts, fit-out agreements, project management appointments, enabling works, and related service packages.
* Review commercial and legal provisions covering delivery schedules, defects, warranties, liabilities, indemnities, insurance, and termination rights.
* Support compliance with local planning, construction, licensing, zoning, and real estate requirements.
* Advise business teams on legal matters affecting site readiness and operational launch.
* Identify regulatory concerns that could delay acquisition, construction, fit-out, or opening activities.
* Manage landlord disputes, lease defaults, termination matters, enforcement actions, and property-related claims.
* Coordinate dispute strategy with business stakeholders and local external counsel.
* Advise on legal risk across Amazon\'s quick commerce, logistics, and operational real estate portfolio.
* Conduct risk assessments and recommend commercially practical mitigation measures.
* Partner with Real Estate and Quick Commerce teams from initial site selection through contract completion and launch.
* Collaborate with Operations, Finance, Tax, Compliance, and Construction teams on regional expansion projects.
* Manage external law firms across multiple jurisdictions and maintain oversight of legal advice, service quality, deadlines, and costs.
* Prepare clear legal guidance for senior leaders regarding strategic sites, compliance concerns, disputes, and commercial risk.
* Monitor changes in real estate, construction, planning, and commercial laws across relevant markets.
* Maintain current knowledge of regional real estate practices and emerging quick commerce models.
* Develop legal playbooks, contract templates, negotiation guidance, approval mechanisms, and repeatable processes.
* Simplify legal workflows to support faster transactions while preserving appropriate controls.
* Maintain accurate contract records, matter trackers, legal risk reports, and outside-counsel budget information.
Ideal Profile
* Qualified lawyer with at least 3 years of post-bar admission legal experience.
* Professional experience reviewing, drafting, and negotiating commercial agreements.
* Demonstrated transactional experience in real estate, construction, development, leasing, or a closely related practice.
* Fluency in written and spoken English.
* Strong understanding of commercial leases and property acquisition structures.
* Ability to manage multiple complex transactions under demanding deadlines.
* Experience advising business teams on construction, fit-out, or development agreements.
* Sound legal judgment with the ability to make balanced decisions in ambiguous situations.
* Strong negotiation skills and the ability to resolve difficult commercial issues.
* Confidence communicating legal risks and recommendations to senior business leaders.
* Ability to work effectively with finance, tax, compliance, operations, construction, and real estate professionals.
* Experience combining private practice and in-house legal work is preferred.
* Regional experience across the Middle East, North Africa, Türkiye, or South Africa is advantageous.
* Previous exposure to quick commerce, logistics facilities, dark stores, retail sites, or fulfillment real estate is preferred.
* Experience supporting high-volume site acquisition or rapid network expansion programs is beneficial.
* Knowledge of FIDIC contracts or comparable construction contract standards is advantageous.
* Experience managing external counsel, legal budgets, and regional legal projects is preferred.
* Arabic or Turkish language capability is an advantage.
