Role Context
The Area Manager is responsible for leading one of the core operational teams across receiving, stowing, picking, packing, or shipping functions. The role ensures smooth workflow execution, strong team performance, and high customer satisfaction by maintaining safety standards, improving productivity, and driving continuous operational excellence across fulfillment operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage daily operations for one major fulfillment function such as receive, stow, pick, pack, or ship
* Lead and supervise a team of approximately 80 to 120 associates across fulfillment center operations
* Drive team training, onboarding, and performance development through active leadership and coaching
* Maintain strong workplace safety standards and ensure full compliance with health and safety procedures
* Monitor key performance indicators and ensure productivity and service targets are achieved
* Improve workflow efficiency and streamline operational processes for better output and customer service
* Maintain inventory accuracy and support quality control across warehouse operations
* Lead cross-functional problem-solving initiatives to remove operational blockers
* Share best practices across teams and act as a subject matter expert for larger fulfillment processes
* Support shift planning across weekends, nights, and holidays when required
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree required or minimum 2 years of Amazon full-time operational experience
* Strong experience managing teams in warehouse, logistics, supply chain, or fast-paced operations environments
* Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends, nights, and holidays
* Strong leadership skills with experience coaching junior staff and motivating teams under pressure
* Proven problem-solving ability with strong root cause analysis skills
* Experience working across cross-functional teams and multiple business functions
* Knowledge of performance metrics and process improvement methods preferred
* Familiarity with Lean, Kaizen, and Six Sigma concepts is an advantage
* Strong communication and decision-making skills in deadline-driven environments
